ogged and consistent is the way to describe Lexy Mojo-Eyes, CEO, Legendary Gold Limited. The Allure Fashion Promoter, 2014, began his promotion of the African designers and fabrics at a time the world looked to the west for everything fashion. But he believed in our local fabrics promoting it through the Nigeria Fashion Week he created. Today, that little seed like the proverbial mustard see has grown into a mighty tree. His annual event not limited to Nigeria alone, takes him to several fashion capitals around the world doing the same thing-promoting African designers and fabrics. In this encounter, Lexy takes us down memory lane on a journey he started more than two decades ago.

At the time you decided that you were going to promote African fashion and African fabrics, not many would touch it with a long pole. What was the ride like for you then? For me, I knew I wanted to promote the whole of the continent internationally but being Nigerian and staying in Nigeria, I decided to start from here to see how it ZRXOG JR ÀUVW EHIRUH PRYLQJ WR WKH FRQWLQHQWDO OHYHO $W WKDW WLPH OLNH \RX ULJKWO\ REVHUYHG QRERG\ OLNHG ZHDULQJ ORFDOO\ PDGH FORWKHV , UHPHPEHU D IULHQG MRNLQJ DERXW KRZ KLV PRWKHU ERXJKW KLP DQ $IULFDQ RXWÀW ZKLFK KH ZRUH WR D IXQFWLRQ DQG HYHU\ERG\ VWDUWHG ODXJKLQJ DW

HOW TO MAKE MONEY WITHOUT MONEY ...CONTD FROM PREVIOUS WEEK

Practical tips on how to make money without money? There are many ways to do this. The advent of technology, particularly the internet is one of this generation’s greatest gifts. There are many ways you can make money with little or no money on the internet. You can set up a free blog on word press or blog spot and earn advertising revenue or start an online business. Tips on How to make money without money: 1. Don’t expect to earn money immediately; you must be willing to work for free for a while. Most successful entrepreneurs worked hard without earning any income for a while. Richard Branson worked for free to get Virgin Music business going. Mark Zuckerberg worked for free in his dormitory before he attracted investors 2. Get suppliers on your side: This is the business model for well-known grocery stores in Nigeria etc. People give them goods/products to sell and the grocery stores pay the suppliers from proceeds after the sale. A few years ago I sold Indian tunics at no cost to me. A friend of mine who lived in Dubai had tunics for sale. She would send me the tunics to help her sell. I added P\ SUHPLXP DQG VROG LW DW D SUR¿W , SDLG KHU WKH FRVW SULFH IURP WKH VDOHV proceeds. If I didn’t sell the tunics, she didn’t get paid. 3. Start a virtual assistant or errand business where you run errands for a fee: There is a Nigerian company called Houseboy.com that is doing quite well by running errands for people. You can hire them to wash and iron your clothes or pick up and deliver items for you. A lot of people also hire them to make indomie. Yes, indomie. 6. Ask family and friends for a loan: There is a lady who started her hair retailing business with a loan of N100, 000 from a family member, in two years she had made over N10million. TO BE CONTD...

Lagos came alive recently with sweet aroma of gourmet meals, traditional and continental dishes, deserts, pastries and salads when over 40 food vendors gathered for the second edition of the Taste off Lagos food festival. The event which held at the Freedom Park, Broad Street Lagos, saw Vendors from all over Lagos come out to exhibit and sell the very best of their signature dishes to the Lagos crowd. The delicious array of food was complemented with music, exciting activities and of course, loads of refreshing and exotic drinks from notable home grown and international brands. Food lovers from far and wide turned out in droves with family and friends in tow to be part of this rich festival. Organised by Aldo Global services, TASTEOFF LAGOS, is Nigeria’s foremost outdoor food festival that showcases Nigeria’s diversity in fine dinning and food retailing. Attendees were treated to free bottles of drinks. Soulful Toyen was also in the house and wowed the crowd with her new single “Criminal’.
