The complex is located in Quinta da Portela, on the outskirts of Coimbra, away from the hustle of the city. The shape of the land is sloping and has proximity to urban construction with identified rules. Therefore, the shape and structure of the building appears in this guideline in accordance with the scale that involves. Thus, arises a volume, of regular form, a parallelepiped, from one to another end of the lot, but that is part of the characterization of the existing volumes. The building is suspended in the air on pillars, with a direct relationship with the passer and the rest of the land, with no interruption between the street-building. The program works in a module that is repeated throughout the whole, prevails an additional space in all apartments, with the possible reversal. The building is a mutant as the predominant effect of the facades is alternative and varied, depending on the experiences of each. The material used to camouflage the whole building is Eternit.

The marking of boxes / volumes above the green terrain frames the view of the landscape. A perpendicular ramp to the path marks the access to the program, adding depth to the terrain and reinforcing the front door. Without explaining where to take us, the dark ramp appears with a light in the background, serving as a guide. Experience 3: Contemplation + PURIFICATION. This leads to the principle of building, a wall that closes a space, quiet, introspective, with a square that receives nature and brings together different people. The city is the remaining elevations of the square. The wall take thickness and absorbs the Tanatorium program. Inside several spaces of different shapes are characterized by the ceiling height and openings to the outside, so as to cause different sensations according to the spatial feature that each space serves. The wall is materialized in brick, a material that comes from the earth in some way associated with the cycle of life as a symbol of the "last house" of Man.
