WHAT IS PHOTOTHERAPY? Phototherapy literally means ‘treatment with light’

LED Phototherapy is the application of low-level light energy delivered via spectrally pure ‘bioactive’ (having a biological effect) wavelengths to stimulate or regulate biological process with proven therapeutic results. Over a course of treatment you can see amazing results in the skin.

BENEFITS Light weight, flexible portable design Single wavelength LED’s: for Precision and Power 3 clinically proven wavelengths: 415nm, 633nm, 830nm 7 single and multi-wavelength treatments protocols 30 minute standalone treatment time (manually adjusted) 20 minute integrated treatment time Application for the face and body

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY The skin is the largest and one of the most important organs in the body and contains

two main divisions:

The epidermis

- The epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This layer is

commonly called the cuticle, It contains no blood vessels but has small nerve endings. It has the following layers:

1.

Stratum corneum

is the outermost of these layers. It is the thickest of the

layers and consists of between 18-23 layers of dry flat cells. It prevents entry of most foreign substances and loss of fluid from the body. 2.

Stratum lucidum

is only present on the palms of the hands and soles of the

feet 3.

Stratum granulosum

is the layer in which the cells loose a considerable

amount of lipids and moisture. 4.

Stratum spinosum

is several cells thick and flattens out as it rises upward.

It is called the ‘spiny’ or ‘prickle cell’ layer. 5.

Stratum germinativum or basal cell layer

is the deepest layer of the

epidermis. It is the layer in which the cells divide and melanin is produced.

The dermis

- The dermis is the underlying, or inner layer, of the skin. It is also

called the derma cutis or true skin. It is a highly sensitive and vascular layer of connective tissue. Within its structure are found numerous blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves, sweat glands, oil glands, hair follicles, arrector pili muscles and papillae. The dermis consists of two layers:

MICROCONDRIA Why it is so important?

The mitochondria is the ‘power house’ of the cell which is located in the cytoplasm. Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is the cellular energy produced by the mitochondria.

Many studies demonstrate that exposure to Red and Near Infrared (NIR) light increases ATP Production.

Combined Red and Near Infrared LED treatment boosts the mitochondria cell production and supercharges cellular energy for increased skin rejuvenation benefits.

CLINICAL PROVEN WAVELENGTHS

• Blue Light 415nm Blemish fighting blue light destroys the bacteria which causes spots and improves skin clarity without irritation. It also has a calming effect for problem skin conditions.

• Red Light 633nm Rejuvenating red light increases metabolic energy and ATP (adenosine triphosphate) synthesis to stimulate cell renewal, boost collagen and elastin production and increase hydration. Ideal for restoring vitality.

• Near Infrared Light (NIR) 830nm Regenerating Near Infrared light offers advanced rejuvenation benefits, calms redness and irritation and helps to reduce pigmentation.

NIR Light has been shown to increase cell regeneration by up to 200%

BLUE LIGHT 415NM For bacteria & blemishes Anti-bacterial action without irritation Helps spots and blemish prone skin Improves skin clarity Calming anti-inflammatory effect Post procedure to minimise breakouts

RED LIGHT 633NM For rejuvenation and renewal Stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis Improves skin texture and tone Accelerates cell renewal Reduces fine lines Increases natural skin hydration Increases blood circulation & oxygenation Stimulates lymphatic system Restores optimum cell function
