Understandably, the amateurs on the receiving end were very moved and grateful, having no fresh water available. No announcements were made ahead of time. They did it spontaneously and surprised them on the west coast.

The accompanying photos provide a glimpse of the damage and the effort by the Miami-area hams to provide at least a little bit of relief.
