H ing a wh l-y nice time!
Over the years, I have travelled to multiple parts of the country with my family in our car. Its been an amazing ad-van-ture. We’ve laughed, cried, fought and most importantly cherished each memory we made on that trip. We just didn’t collect pictures, we created experiences for a lifetime. As an ode to these travels, I have created patterns for each place to represent what it means to me and what I learnt from the heritage, architecture and culture of that place. Each pattern tells a story of the history of the city shining in its golden armour.
Inspired by scales, the repeat patterns themselves make interesting measuring units while along with them, the memories too act as rulers of time.
Mumbai
The earliest memory I have of a place is of Mumbai. I remember going to school by a boat everyday, yes I lived on a small island, pretty cool right? I remember going to stores with my mom after school. I remember having toffees and chips on way back home. I remember the Victorian Gothic style buildings and markets and and the double decker bus and the ambassador taxi. Mumbai will always be my first love, it will always have a piece of my heart.

Delhi
I spent good 15 years in Delhi. It saw me in all my glory, from those embarrassing teenage years to my hustling early adult years. I have my most fondest memories associated to this place, if Mumbai was my first crush, Delhi probably is my fiancé. This city grows on you, on the tip of the iceberg you find it to be polluted crappy crowded place but the city has its own aura and charm beneath the surface. Delhi’s heart is too big and has a place for everyone.

Goa
We took our first long journey road trip from Mumbai to Goa back in 2013. It was a magical trip. Goa has a vibe like no other. We had explored the beaches of Goa on several other trips before but more recently when we started living close to Goa, I experienced a whole new Goa. The keys to Goa’s heart lies in its cute small family run cafes, walking or bicycling through its colourful streets and of course its festivals and how how can I forget, the music!

Jaipur
Famously known as the Pink City, Jaipur illuminates the soul of its visitor. The city reeks of culture and history and heritage. I was spellbound the first time I visited Jaipur, awe struck by its welcoming magnificence. Jaipur is no less than a big gesture of love. The perfect ingredient to the recipe of exploring Jaipur is to leave space to get lost in absolute splendour of the palaces and forts of the city. The beauty of the city also lies in the way it touches the lives of its artisans.

Hampi
Coming to Karnataka was no less than a big surprise for me. I had never even in my farthest dreams imagined that I would come stay in Southern India. But I am not complaining. I have travelled, explored the unexplored and eaten lots of dosa lots of it. Hampi sticks to you, it leaves an indelible mark in your hearts. The beautiful temples carve a place for themselves in your senses. After visiting the place, for days I felt the impact the village had left on me and my mind. I wouldn’t mind calling it my favourite place in India.
