VTO 2013 Industry Greetings Greetings everiwan We have all made it to 2013 and let’s acknowledge our good Lord for sparing our lives to this new year. Our target for 2012 was to grow tourism arrivals by air at 10 percent but we have exceeded this target with a record year with an estimated 16 per cent growth equating to almost 19,000 arrivals and a total estimated record arrivals of 109,000. This growth level is higher than the global and regional average of around 4 percent. Cruise ship passenger arrivals have also grown substantially by approximately 27 percent to almost 200,000 passenger arrivals. We have greater plans for this year 2013 and our target this year is to grow tourist arrivals by 10% and to grow outer island visitation by 5% to bring the total outer island visitation to 25% of the total air arrivals. Our marketing efforts will continue to concentrate in our major markets, being Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia with some attention to.. next pg.

We anticipate to hold an industry presentation on VTO’s total marketing plan and activities for the year once Government have confirmed our 2013 budget. VTO attends Vienna Travel Show: Vanuatu Tourism Office shared a booth with the Austrian Wholesaler CocCo Tours at the Vienna Travel Show held in January. Coco Tours is a major wholesaler in Austria who specialises in selling Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, including Vanuatu. There were 148,000 visitors during the four day fair whch was for the travelling public. There were 750 exhibitors awith 70 countries represented. VTO visits Snorkelers Cove, Iririki Island Resort: On 22nd January 2013, VTO's Information officer, Ms Aurianne Litoung and Cyriaque VTO student trainee, went on a site inspection at Iririki Island Resort where they were warmly greeted and met by the resort's guest relations manager Ms Melissa Itorma. The group's first stop was at Guest Relations where guests book tours, access wireless internet and browse through a souvenir shop, then the group moved to Michener’s Restaurant which carries a spectacular view across Port Vila harbour... At the present time such associations are listed as follows: Vanuatu Hotel and Resort Association (VHRA), Vanuatu Tour Operator Association (VTOA), Vanuatu Scuba Operators Association (VSOA), Espiritu Santo Tourism Association (ESTA), Tafea Tourism Association (TTC), Malampa Tourism Association (MTA), Torba, Sanma, Penama, and Shefa Tourism Association, Vanuatu Island Bungalows Tourism Association (VIBTA). Operators who are not members of such tourism related organizations, will be refused space on the VTO website as per verification from association and will be encouraged to contact most appropriate association and affiliate, prior to approaching the VTO for web placement. Upon affiliation, the VTO Senior Communications Officer - Website & eMarketing will email the approved tourism operator a form for the operator to fill out as a start up program at no cost. The operator will be listed under its most appropriate section with a link to product webpage. Changes to pages are done and monitored only by the Senior Communications Officer for Website & eMarketing.
Product Webpage Requirements Operators need to send through: 1. Product contact details: Name, Phone, Email, Website, Postal, GPS location. 2. Product description for main page: 300-500 words maximum. 3. Photos: 5 product images (72dpi 600pixels wide 450pixels high, horizontal)
