News from the office Miss Vanuatu – Asia Pacific World Beauty Pageant Contest
Media release: The Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 went well and we were very proud of our Miss Vanuatu. She took her place in this World Event very confident and proud. There were a total of 43 contestants from around the world and of course you can image to level of competition and at the end Miss India was crowned the Miss Asia Pacific World 2013. Read more.

For release 30th October 2013: The week long Origin Culinary Arts & Hospitality Show showcased exceptional Vanuatu cuisine. A standout would have to be the only dish to be awarded Gold medal with Distinction – a full 100/100 possible points that was awarded to Lina Singo of the Holiday Inn Resort for her superior island kakae dish of pan fried poulet. Tafea Tourism Council new website

The Vanuatu Tourism Office facilitated itineraries of a dozen top travel writers and media personnels from China who were in Vanuatu from 26th to 29th October, and left with smiles and well wishes to return again, and plenty of stories to share about Vanuatu in China. The republic of China, through its China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), invites annually South Pacific Tourism Organization (SPTO) members, and this year they have chosen Vanuatu, to be included in their main travel show which is only evident that China wants to strengthen its relationships and ties with its Pacific island neighbors seriously. Tafea Tourism Council has a new website, which promotes members including accommodation providers and tour operators in the province, an image gallery, information about Tafea Tourism, google map of each islands in the province, and very soon visitor testimonials and a blog for the Tafea Tourism will be enabled on the website. For release: It was exciting having the 5th edition of Barista championship 2013 in Port Vila during the Salon Culinaire last week. Every year the best coffee makers of Vanuatu from all the resorts, restaurants and cafés compete to demonstrate their coffee techniques and creativity. Read more.
Ms Hanseatic arrives this week
By Management of Tamanu on the Beach: In 2011, Cameron Morrison worked in Fiji with 35 chefs in his brigade at which time he entered a team of his best chefs into the Salon Culinaire, Fiji. Cameron was also invited to judge in this event so when he was asked to assist as a judge in this year’s Salon Culinaire, Vanuatu, he jumped at the opportunity. Read more.
Skål Port Vila Hosts Inter-Club Gathering 26th and 27th October 2013
On Monday this week, MS Hanseatic made its first trip for the year to Port Vila, handled by Evergreen Tours cruise department. Onboard service is 5 stars and the cruiseline carrying capacity is 184 passengers. The Hanseatic was honored with the "Kreuzfahrt Guide Award 2011" – and thus for the most extraordinary itineraries in the most beautiful and remote regions of the world, and this week it moored at Port Vila wharf. The VTO would like to congratulate Evergreen Tours for Hanseatic cruiseliner’s visit this week.

The Skål Club of Port Vila, Vanuatu hosted an Inter-Club Event on the week-end of 26th and 27th October’13 to foster friendships between other nearby Skål Clubs. Skål is a professional organization of tourism leaders from around the world promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. Read more.

The moons aligned with perfect weather and hot fishing. Janet and Mark encountered some trophy Mahi Mahi, GT’s, wahoo, yellowfin tuna and jobfish plus much more. “Staying at Trees and Fishes is like having the red carpet rolled out for you, the meals are a highlight” mentioned Janet. Media release: The Kiwanis Club of Port Vila recently announced that the Kiwanis Charity Race Week will shift to August in 2014. Kiwanis President, Mark Stafford, says that, “this shift is due to a number of factors. We have studied the weather patterns over a number of years and we know that August is a better weather month than our traditional July period. We have also received a lot of good feedback from the horse fraternity; the airlines; and tourism industry all of whom are pleased with the change to August.” Read more.
