News from the office VTO and DOT discuss internet
VTO Out n About Snap shots taken by Sebastien Bador, VTO Trade and Events Manager during the VKS Tabu Rum visit on Friday last week, a celebration to close this year Western style organized by DOT and VTO was invited to attend, APTC Graduation , recent SPTO training, and of VTO Marketing Secretary, Nancy Kalorib’s famil to Tanna with Chinese travel agents last weekend.
Last week on 19th to 21st November, staff of both the Vanuatu Tourism Office and the Department of Tourism participated at a training on the importance of Internet in marketing the destination, its products, and challenges that Vanuatu faces in regards to positioning on search engines. The training was facilitated by TVET rep, Ms Joanne Wade and she invited E-Marketing & Website Officer for the VTO Ms Alcina Charlie to share her experience (pictured above) on how important the internet has become over the last few years, and how much has changed in her work since she started with VTO in 2002. This became an eye-opening experience for participants to see what VTO does to manage its website and all its other social media sites to attract more tourists to Vanuatu. VTO and DOT thanks TVET for facilitating ongoing trainings for both offices.

Chantilly’s on the Bay is excited to be hosting a young talented local artist in the making. Brent Malessas’s first solo exhibition in pottery will run from Friday 29th November to Sunday 1st December 2013, showing his last 10 months work. He started learning pottery in June 2012 and has rapidly developed his style and technique. Malessa’s knowledge and skill of turning clay (ground) into dishwasher and oven proof house ware items must be seen. The pots are strong as they are cooked to a temperature of about 1300c in a gas oven over 9 hours. Pop in and support this amazing talent!
Trade & Media Fall in love with Vanuatu
The Traveller’s Point Blog writes “Bursting with amazing sightseeing opportunities, white sandy beaches, coral reefs and volcanoes, the island country of Vanuatu surprises visitors with its rich cultural heritage and its wide arrange of eco-tourist activities. Due to its clear waters, Vanuatu is an ideal scuba diving destination but there are just as many attractions for dedicated land explorers including Mount Tabwemasana, Chief Roi Mata’s Domain, and active volcano Mount Yasur. Visitors will also appreciate extraordinary sights Mele Cascades, Champagne Beach, and the Nanda Blue Hole. The famous SS President Coolidge wreck off Espiritu Santo is one of the world's top dive sites and recreational divers are drawn to the largely intact ship due to its easy access and visibility. With so many sights of cultural and natural significance, you will enjoy exploring Vanuatu. Read blog.
