A fortnight ago, the Australian Sky Racing TV crew (seen filming in above photo) invited by the VTO, flew to Port Vila purposely to cover the annual Kiwanis Horse race and all associated events from Wednesday 10th to Mon 15th July 2013. The TV crew featured the Kiwanis Charity Race and also filmed the Kiwanis ball, and the Carbine Club luncheon and the race day. Sky Racing’s shooting at the race was basically to promote the horse race and attract more overseas visitors as well as jockies for future events. The VTO acknowledges Air Vanuatu and the Kiwanis Club for their assistance, cooperation and coordination of the event.

VTO Staff Out & About - What have we been up to lately? VTO staff went on an adventure at Rentabao last week. “Eden on the River” is a privately owned estate of absolute untouched rain forest and stunning natural beauty, which staff thoroughly appreciated & enjoyed the beauty and tranquility. The group was warmly welcomed by Eden's friendly staff and received a personalized narrated tour of the beautiful tropical gardens before entering into the lush rainforest. A quick preparatory talk, then it was time to get ready to walk and swing across from point to point over Rentabao river. Staff even got up close with some of the wild life, and enjoyed wandering through the gardens. The VTO thanks Eden’s Management for their hospitality and congratulates the owners for a fantastic product.
Trade & Media Slowing down in Malekula
Posted by Anne Morris on Air Vanuatu blog: If asked for three words to describe Malekula I would go with – raw, remote and paradise. It is not for people who want swim up bars, cocktails, spas and kids’ clubs, but for me it was paradise. Think of beautiful guesthouses made from local materials and owners who treat you like you are one of the family – Malekula has this coupled with a unique and fascinating culture. Malekula sees only small numbers of travellers each year and I was fortunate enough to experience this hidden island gem. With a population of over 20,000, Malekula is the second largest island in Vanuatu’s archipelago, its people speak over 20 languages and I was there to discover the island’s intricate culture and remote island life. Just over an hour’s flight from Port Vila we landed at Norsup airport, an airport unlike anything I had ever seen. Set in a beautiful lush location facing the sea surrounded by mountains, with a roofless building and certainly no perfume counter! It was picture perfect from the moment we stepped off the plane. After grabbing my backpack I sparked up conversation with the locals who were hanging around. They didn’t appear to be actually waiting for anyone but just acting as an unofficial welcome party. They pointed me in the direction of my ride, the back of a 4WD ute, I climbed in with excited anticipation, eager to see where we would end up…. Read more
