Congress Requests Larger Voice by Phil Tanis "As far as I'm concerned, the structure of this thing is so heavy that it doesn't let us do a darned thing without going through tons ot red tape." So said Congressmember Dirk Weeldreyer at last week's Student Congress meeting, commenting on the committee and hierarchy set-up at Hope. At the meeting previous to last week's, Weeldreyer advocated changing the c o m m i t t e e structures to allow for more student p a r t i c i p a t i o n . The C o n g r e s s unanimously endorsed his idea of sending a letter to the Administration asking for an increase in student representation, First Vice-president Greg Olgers reported, though, that a change in the committee structure would have to be implemented -by the Board of Trustees - who do not meet until May. He said that, anyway, a change w a s unlikely to be passed. Olgers also repprted that he had talked to Dean of Students Lamont Dirkse. He said that Dirkse would rather s e e the present seats used more effectively than see the number expand.
