Trustee Board Meets at Hope This Weekend T h e d e t a i l s of B o a r d r e o r g a n i z a t i o n is the m a j o r item on the agenda a s the H o p e C o l l e g e B o a r d of T r u s t e e s m e e t s o n c a m p u s this w e e k e n d . T h e new 2 4 - m e m b e r B o a r d m u s t elect o f f i c e r s f o r the c o m i n g y e a r , d e c i d e on the size a n d election p r o c e d u r e for its e x e c u t i v e committee, and determine convenient m e e t i n g d a t e s . " W e h a v e q u i t e a n u m b e r of other topics u p for d i s c u s s i o n , " s a i d P r e s i d e n t C a l v i n A. V a n d e r Werf. I m p l e m e n t a t i o n of the p l a n w a s left to t h e D e a n f o r S t u d e n t Aff a i r s a n d the A s s o c i a t e D e a n of Students. A similar proposal was passed l a s t y e a r by the A s s o c i a t i o n of W o m e n S t u d e n t s , the S t u d e n t Senate a n d the S t u d e n t Life C o m mittee. THE MOTION, which w a s passed unanimously, was moved b y Dr. D a v i d M a r k e r a n d s u p ported b y Student Senate President Hon H o o k . S p e a k i n g for the p l a n . Gift Enables Purchase
College Acquires Rusk Building H o p e C o l l e g e h a s a c q u i r e d the v a c a n t H o l l a n d Husk b u i l d i n g in downtown Holland, President C a l v i n A. V a n d e r W e r f a n n o u n c e d today. The building was purchased by m e a n s of a gift f r o m t h e Dewey D. a n d H a t t i e B a t t j e s F o u n d a t i o n . No purchase price w a s a n nounced. T h e f o r m e r o w n e r w a s the N a t i o n a l Biscuit C o m p a n y of N e w York. The C o l l e g e h a s p r e l i m i n a r y p l a n s to c o n v e r t p a r t of the b u i j d ing f o r use b y the a r t d e p a r t m e n t . "Presently o u r facilities a r e s p r e a d all o v e r c a m p u s , " s a i d Delbert Michel of t h e art d e p a r t m e n t f a c u l t y . " W e use c l a s s r o o m s in the P h y s i c s - M a t h b u i l d i n g , o u r exh i b i t i o n g a l l e r y is in the l i b r a r y a n d o u r s t u d i o s a r e in t h e Science Building and the b a s e m e n t of P h e l p s H a l l . " W e a r e not p l a n n i n g to u s e the whole building. The National Biscuit Co. discontinued o p e r a t i o n s in the b u i l d i n g in A u g u s t 1 9 6 6 . A c c o r d i n g to Mr. Michel, the art d e p a r t m e n t h o p e s to m o v e into its new facilities next fall.
