Prins c o u l d n o l o n g e r o v e r c o m e her w a n d e r l u s t , so she a t t e n d e d a summer session at t h e U n i v e r s i t y o f Besangon in France. T w o o t h e r summers w e r e s p e n t at t h e S o r b o n n e in Paris. Student Council The S t u d e n t C o u n c i l has c o n t i n u e d t h e w o r k o f s t r e n g t h e n i n g c o l l e g e o r g a n i z a t i o n s w i t h a f a l l l e a d e r ship t r a i n i n g , a n d a spring leadership conference. A g a i n , in 1 9 5 4 - 5 5 , t h e S t u d e n t C o u n c i l has b e e n r e s p o n s i b l e f o r the o r g a n i z a t i o n o f c o l l e g e events, a n d the Pull, H o m e c o m i n g , the A l l C o l l e g e S i n g , a n d M a y D a y w e r e a m o n g contests a n d a c t i v i t i e s in t h e i r h a n d s , a n d a n e w a t t r a c t i o n w a s M o m a n d D a d ' s D a y . This y e a r also saw i n c r e a s e d interest in another b r a n c h of the council's w o r k . Radio Hope College.

This f e s t i v i t y o c c u r r e d in t h e " C o f F e e - K l e t z " with pizza a n d fun too. Our sorority enthusiasm mpunted to a high p i t c h as t h e f o r m a l , " S p r i n g F e v e r , " o c c u r r e d o n A p r i l 15. O n e m o n t h l a t e r the i n f o r m a l , full of sunning a n d swimm i n g a n d p a r t y i n g , w a s e n j o y e d . The 1 9 5 4 - 5 5 s c h o o l y e a r w a s a g a i n a year of g r o w t h a n d strength for the oldest fraternity on Hope's campus. The Praters a r e a b l e t o r e f l e c t u p o n s c h o l a s t i c a n d a t h l e t i c a t t a i n m e n t s , as w e l l as t h e t r a d i t i o n a l a c t i v i t i e s t h a t seem t o h a v e a l w a y s b e e n a p a r t o f Fraternal brotherhood. A f i n e p l e d g e class w a s w e l c o m e d and during Homecoming week-end the active chapter h a d the opportun i t y to g r e e t m a n y F r a t e r n a l a l u m n i . The winter party was " A Royal A f f a i r , " and the traditional alumni banquet, the W a s h i n g t o n Day Stag, was foll o w e d b y a f i r s t - p l a c e v i c t o r y in t h e A l l - C o l l e g e Sing by the " S t o u t h e a r t e d M e n " of OKE, led by G o r d o n M e e u w sen. The s p r i n g p a r t y , . j o i n t m e e t i n g s , t h e Frater Frolic, c o m b o jam sessions, a n d other activities served to round o u t t h e y e a r o f Frater a c t i v i t y a n d a c c o m p l i s h m e n t . The T h e s a u r i a n 1 9 5 4 - 5 5 a l b u m o f memories opens with the annual fall house party where a m o n g the fun a n d activity a r o u n d r o b i n letter that h a d c i r c u l a t e d a m o n g the girls d u r i n g the summer was r e a d a n d also decisions f o r n e w p l e d g e s w e r e m a d e . The n e w p l e d g e s , n i n e in n u m b e r , w e r e w e l c o m e d w i t h a b i k e h i k e at t h e M o o r ing which included a sailboat ride. Shortly a f t e r w a r d f i v e transfer girls completed the Thesaurian " p i c t u r e " a n d were received with a coffee jaunt at Cumerford's. H o w e v e r , the Dutch f a i l e d to live up to pre-season e x p e c t a t i o n s , finishing the season w i t h a three w o n , six lost r e c o r d . D i v i d i n g six g a m e s in c o n f e r e n c e p l a y , the d e f e n d i n g M I A A c h a m p i o n s d r o p p e d to a m e d i o c r e f o u r t h p l a c e finish.
