various kinds
Various Kinds is all about Els Bauwelinck. This is where my different passions come together: design, photography, lifestyle ... I can hardly choose between different disciplines, so I let everything flow into each other, various kinds. As a designer, I always strive to make valuable designs, illustrations or images that communicate on a visual, intellectual and emotional level, in a contemporary environment. I like designs that balance between beauty, simplicity and functionality. I love to share my interests with everyone. It’s not only about material objects but also about very ordinary matters or moments. This can go very wide, from very small things to the unreachable. Everything with a very personal approach. The photography, graphic and text are all made by myself.
Enjoy!

kids clothes
A while ago we had the honor to make illustrations of the Begian brand Lily Balou. The clothing is colorful, conscious and comfortable. Lily-Balou launched a first women’s collection in the summer of 2019. Each Lily-Balou piece of clothing is made with respect for the planet and with respect for the people who make the clothes.

Max, Mischa & the Tet Offensive is the story of stage director Max Hansen, who emigrates to America as an adolescent. He struggles to leave his childhood in Stavanger, where he acted out the Tet offensive as a child of communist parents. But in New York he discovers that everyone there is actually displaced. He meets dear fellow sufferers in artist Mischa and Vietnam veteran Owen. Johan Harstad’s magnum opus is a hypnotic story spanning many decades and continents: from the Vietnam War and Apocalypse Now to jazz music, from Mark Rothko and Burning Man to the attack on the Twin Towers. But most of all, this utterly addictive novel centers around the question: how long must you be away from home before it is late to return?

The story behind Haeckels is truly amazing. Haeckels was founded in 2012 by volunteer beach warden and coastal enthusiast Dom Bridges. Disillusioned by the production ethos of many larger skin care companies Dom wanted to create simple hand crafted products that showcased the surrounding coasts natural ingredients in the hope that the products themselves would then promote Margates heritage of healthy coastal living. When Haeckels was just starting out Dom would collect seaweed and local botanicals along the Margate coast and bring them bring back to his family kitchen to experiment. Dom’s wife Jo soon said it was time to get a proper Lab and turn a passion into a business as every saucepan in the kitchen was starting to smell like a skin care product. Taking his wifes advice he acquired the Lab on Cliff Terrace in 2013 where more product formulas were developed to complete the range. The company has now grown; taking on members of staff whilst still playing an active part in the local community by organising beach cleans and taking part in marine conseravtion surveys. As Haeckels develops over the coming years the heart of the company will always remain the same as it concentrates on craft first in the hope that the products themselves will remind and educate customers of the natural wealth of Margates coastline. www.haeckels.co.uk www.greenbeautymarket.com
paper art Paper is so much sided and unique. So much so that a simple sheet of wrapping paper takes on a life of its own. Dutch designer Debbie Wijskamp even developed paper vases for serax. By experimenting and reusing paper, she has created her own material with a typical characteristic appearance. The paper pulp has been developed in such a way that it is not only strong and waterproof, but it also gives a new direction to paper.
