TRAVELLING IN EYP BY ANASTASIA KOKKINOU (CY) & VASILIS TSENES (GR)
One of the most difficult yet fascinating things that come along with being an EYPer, is travelling for sessions. After having participated at a session or two in your country, you might start to miss EYP. The best solution is to probably do as much EYP as possible, and that is why sessions exists in other countries as well! Going abroad for a session is contagious; you will just want to do more and more after it. Whether you are experienced or not, travelling in EYP is a must. Let’s hear some interesting travelling stories from officials and how they travelled to Maribor 2017.
Emils, Latvia It all started out in Riga, 6 am; I boarded an airplane, I had booked a ticket from Riga to Vienna and then Ljubljana, and the thing is, the flight was delayed because it was Air Baltic (as always)! So I missed the bus, and that prolonged my trip for about 9 to 10 hours. But then I got to Ljubljana all safe and good, and then Maribor of course!
Matthias, Switzerland So my trip started at 6 am in the morning. I took a train to Zurich and its airport. I had to wait there for one hour, and then took my flight to Ljubljana. Then I had a shuttle bus, which was really easy, although for the overall trip, the plane was inconvenient.
Anastasia, Cyprus Cyprus is sort of isolated from central Europe so I had to take a plane to Athens, Greece, where I met up with Vasilis.
Anastasia & Vasilis, Cyprus & Greece We took a plane to Belgrade, where even if we were starving, could not buy any food because the currency is different. Then we took a delayed jet plane to Ljubljana (of course) where we stayed at a really nice hostel for a night because there weren’t any flights on Thursday Morning.

A TRIBUTE TO TH BY KLARA
Months before Maribor 2017 there was an idea. A tiny little idea. And after months (a month) of hard work the session is finally happening. But the organising of the session did not happen on its own. Behind all of the planning and arranging there are organisers. Orgas that put a lot of effort and dedication to making the session a reality. Before we even thought of applying to the session the orgas were already deeply involved into finding the venues, accommodation, trying to arrange food, materials and all the other tiny details that you have not even thought of. But with the start of the session the work of an organiser is far from being over. The most exhausting part is only starting. The organising team needs to do all the transfers, carry the materials around all the time, prepare the food and also clean the venues. They usually have so much work that sleep is not their priority and they often neglect it. That is why we need to appreciate their work. Therefore here is our tribute to them. Let’s start with numbers:
-
1296 hours since the start of the organising 108 hours spent on organising 2 hours - average amount of sleep per day of an orga prepared 16 liters of coffee 1600 pages printed
HE ORGANISERS ŠIRCA (SI)
“I found the headorganising part really challenging but everything went smoothly and according to the plan even though many things could be improved.” Burito
Klara: One of the most important things at the session is the food. So if you are an organiser give delegates food and they will be happy.
Jasmin: “I organised 12 sessions so far and during organising I got across many funny moments and stories. Once I arranged a house for alumni weekend and later on found out that the house did not have a shower.” Jure: When I was organising a NSC Ljubljana I was awake till the daylight 5 days in row so basically sleep was not my priority.
Urh: I sometimes wish I had more than two hands so I could carry more bags at the same time.
