Apartments on Stanhope Street, New York Concept Design Andrew L Pettit Architect Professional|‘14 -’15 Rhino, Autocad

The client wanted to renovate 2 old buildings on his property. We suggested maximizing the space and making a single building with 4 duplex apartments, designed in such a way that each apartment gets front as well as rear views. This created a prototype for small lots that can be multiplied both vertically & horizontally.

Automated Micronations Graduate Thesis Academic|Spring ‘15 Grasshopper, Rhino, Maya, Mental Ray

We are in need of an architecture that is pre-programmed to change. One that can evolve with the changing times, as it is not possible to predict the circumstances of the future. Automated, self organizing, floating micronations have been created to inhabit refugees and aid existing nations. These floating membranes are movable batteries for the world.

The territories can exist in isolation temporarily and self organize and assemble into bigger landforms based on need. WIND FARMS

The Brainery is an informal learning space that provides the resources to learn something new at a low cost and a few classes by tapping into the existing pool of knowledge within the neighborhood. These are ‘loose modules’ that occupy underutilized publicly owned buildings such as fire-stations, creating a visible palimpsest of knowledge.

BRIDGE STRUCTURE: STEEL

Assignment 2 – Construction of Hanging Chain Model The process of making the hanging chain model was more exploratory than premeditated for me. I started with five pins for base support that I then connected in a sequence with paper clip chains. Then I went on adding more and more chains and observed the changing curvatures 2

I tried not to fight the form. Whenever I felt1 that the chain was pulling two ends together, I would make it longer and let gravity take charge. The size of the paper clips were a bit restrictive. To explore further, I removed the chains from one of the supports. It gave an interesting form that I visualized as a roof, and then began to clean it up.

There is a split between the City and Battery park. The proposed berm meant to protect Manhattan from future hurricanes, further enhances this split. At the same time, the existing shoreline detaches the public from the water. This project acts as a bridge between the park and the urban fabric, while allowing a direct link to the water, forming a dam for the berm.

Revitalization of a Small Town Undergraduate Thesis| Semester X Academic| Spring ‘13 Autocad, Sketchup

The thesis looked into understanding the reasons behind distress migration from the small town of Miranpur in Uttar Pradesh, India. After studying the historical, socio-economic background and pattern of development of this town, the narrative was taken forward by suggesting interventions that enhance the standard of living of the people, and instigate reverse migration.

Home For All Urban Design and Housing Team Project| Semester VIII Academic| Spring ‘12 Autocad, Sketchup, Revit

Gurgaon lies on the periphery of the Metropolitan city of Delhi, making it the ‘spillover’ area for Delhi‘s overpopulation. It’s the hub of ad-hoc development with lack of infrastructure to support it. The aim of the studio was to provide a solution for this rapid unplanned urbanization of Gurgaon, in order to prepare it for the future populations, from all socio-economic backgrounds.
