E V S E I R E Y C T N H E I I R N E G! P X E EXPERIENCE GROWTH 2018 was one exciting year! Thousands of you joined us to celebrate the opening of Vellore Village Library and enjoyed the countless programs and services offered. Bathurst Clark Resource Library received a stunning facelift just in time for its 25th Anniversary. Renovations included the addition of a Children’s Area and LEARN IT! Lab, new carpets, additional study space, renovated washrooms and exterior book returns. The new Children’s Area is a family favourite. Bright and inviting, the area offers room for family reading, comfortable seating and children’s height self-checkout stations. Programming and tech learning for children is happening in the LEARN IT! Lab, from creating LEGO® stop motion movies or discovering the world of virtual reality to building computers, coding all kinds of robots or just exploring science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in our STEAM Club. Exciting times continue as Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) grows with new libraries set to open in 2020 - the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Library (VMC), VMC Storefront Library and the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital Library. We look forward to serving you there!

EXPERIENCE EXCELLENCE VPL staff won the prestigious Angus Mowat Award of Excellence for our Customer Service Experience model. No wonder in the 2018 Citizen’s Survey, you expressed a 96% satisfaction rate with VPL! We are delighted to know you are pleased with our services, and we promise to keep enriching your experiences. Staff are wholeheartedly committed to the work, mission, and stewardship of VPL. Through the I love VPL Staff Campaign held during Ontario Public Library Week, we learned from your many comments how much you appreciate our staff! 107,451 of you enjoyed our 3,841 terrific programs such as Murder on the Hogwarts Express, an after-hours murder mystery which quickly sold out and Late Night @ The Library to Celebrate All Things Jane Austen, an evening filled with dancing, playing card games, painting and more! You cherished the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten that fosters a love for reading among children and the Daycare & Grade One Card outreach campaign that invited thousands of children and their families to become VPL customers. Our very first all-day March Break and STEAM Summer Camps were big hits! Children had a blast and gained new knowledge and skills through fun activities.

Your libraries are now your one-stop shop, offering vending machines at our resource libraries and PRESTO services at Dufferin Clark, Civic Centre and Pierre Berton Resource Libraries. A new service desk and self check-in and checkout machines were also added to Pierre Berton Resource and Maple Libraries to make your library experience more pleasurable and convenient.
