Chair, Vaughan Public Library Board Welcome to What’s On, VPL’s first issue of our newly designed guide to programs, special events and using your library.

I am happy to announce that ZAS Architects Inc. has been awarded the contract for architectural services for the new Civic Centre Resource Library. We are all looking forward to working with the architect to build an innovative new resource library that will offer the citizens of Vaughan new ways to Enrich Inspire Transform. In providing new opportunities to see you at our existing libraries, beginning January 1, 2013, we will be extending our hours of service at Bathurst, Pierre Berton, Maple, Ansley Grove and Kleinburg Libraries. We hope these changes in hours will give you more opportunities to experience the wonderful resources found within our libraries and give you one more reason to see you at the library.

WATCH FOR NEW EXTENDED HOURS OF SERVICE BEGINNING JANUARY 2013! For your convenience, Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) is pleased to offer extended hours of service effective January 2, 2013. Ansley Grove Library, Bathurst Clark Resource Library, Maple Library and Pierre Berton Resource Library will close on Fridays at 6 pm instead of 5 pm. On Sundays, both Bathurst Clark and Pierre Berton Resource Libraries will extend their hours of service to 10 am–5 pm. Kleinburg Library will now open on Sundays from 1–5 pm. Tuesday’s hours for Kleinburg Library change from 10 am–8 pm to 10 am–5 pm. For a complete listing of all library locations and hours, see page 14.

NEW MULTILINGUAL ONLINE CATALOGUE

VPL is always striving to find the best ways to communicate with you. The Libraries’ online catalogue is now available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Korean and Russian languages. To access the catalogue in various languages, visit the online library catalogue at catalogue.vaughanpl.info and look for the language dropdown list located at the top-right corner of the webpage.

Make the Most of Your Membership

Get a Library Card. It’s free! With a library card you have free access to books, movies, magazines, music, databases, programs, events, resources and more at all seven branches of Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) and online at www.vaughanpl.info!

Visitors You don’t have to have a library card to consult library staff or use the print collections on site. If you wish to use the library’s electronic resources, just show staff your identification at the Service Desk.

Don’t have a library card? If you live, work, go to school full-time or own property in the City of Vaughan, you can get a free library card. Join VPL in person or online—just show identification that has your address, registration or proof of employment in Vaughan on it.

Library Services - in person, online or on the phone All branches have materials for reference and loan. The most comprehensive reference collections are held at Bathurst Clark Resource Library and Pierre Berton Resource Library.
