Getting Your Library Card Library cards are free of charge to anyone who lives, owns property, works or goes to school full time in the City of Vaughan. You can join Vaughan Public Libraries in person at any branch and online at www.vaughanpl.info. Whether you apply for your library card in person or online, you will need to bring one of the following to verify your information: • proof of your home address in Vaughan • registration at a school or college in Vaughan, or • proof of employment in Vaughan
Children can get their own library cards. If they are 13 years old or under, the parent or guardian is required to sign the child's library card. If you don't qualify for free membership as described above, you can still join VPL. Please phone any of the branches for details. Visitors to VPL You don't have to have a library card to visit branches of Vaughan Public Libraries to consult library staff or use the print collections on site. If you don’t have a card and wish to use the library's electronic resources, please bring with you valid identification, including your address (e.g. your driver's licence).
Library Services All branches have materials for reference and loan. The most comprehensive reference collections are held at Bathurst Clark Resource Library and Pierre Berton Resource Library. Books, DVDs, videos and CDs are all available in many languages to meet the needs of our diverse community. Books are also available in large print and as audio books. Community Library Link is a service to facilitate borrowing for people who are temporarily or permanently homebound.

Vaughan Public Libraries now offers a new and convenient Books by Mail service. For a fee of $6 per shipment, your items will be sent right to your doorstep. Qualified staff are always on site in each library to assist you in your search for information. They are also available to advise on leisure reading or on materials appropriate to your child's reading abilities.
Some libraries have study rooms available for groups or individual study and all libraries have meeting rooms available for booking by the public. Pierre Berton Resource Library has both a boardroom and a training suite available for rent. Details of all these services are available from the libraries and on the website.
All libraries provide free access to the Internet and to PCs equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Wireless access is available in all libraries. CD-ROM stations are available for pre-schoolers to learn basic computer and literacy skills. Each library has black and white photocopiers. Colour photocopiers are available at the Resource Libraries.

Beat the Teen Summer Reading Challenge (TSRC)
Looking for something to do this summer? Enjoy a good challenge? Do your part to help beat VPL’s Teen Summer Reading Challenge! VPL challenges Vaughan’s teens, ages 13 – 18, to read a grand total of 250,000 pages over the summer. Think you are up for it?
The challenge kicks off, June 30, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Pierre Berton Resource Library. Get a head start on your page count and join us at the All-You-Can-Read Buffet as we serve up a selection of books, magazines, graphic novels and great snacks! HOW DO I PARTICIPATE? Visit www.vaughanpl.info for a TSRC form. Every time you read a book over the summer, fill out a TSRC form to update the number of pages you’ve read. Please be sure to record the same email address on every new form you submit. Forms will also be available to pick up and submit in the library.

Check Out the New Interactive Centres for Children at VPL VPL’s new interactive centres for pre-school children provide a stimulating, creative environment to develop their emerging literacy skills with the involvement of an adult, focusing on gross motor skills, fine motor skills and cognitive development. What is Bags for Beds? Can beds really be made out of bags? Absolutely!
Milk bags are used to crochet sleeping mats for people in third world countries and areas of need. Teens, during the summer if you’re looking to earn community service hours, crochet a child’s mat and you can earn 10 hours, crochet two and earn 20! In addition to this available space, the Pierre Berton Resource Library offers Boardroom and Training Suite facilities which support presentations and training sessions. BOARDROOM: The Boardroom seats 18 at the table but the room can accommodate an additional 12 chairs placed around the room. An optional IT package is available which includes an LCD projector, screen and Internet hook-up. The Boardroom also includes a kitchenette for refreshments. TRAINING SUITE: The Training Suite has eight computer workstations and is fully equipped with a non-optional IT package that includes a SmartBoard, LCD projector, screen, Internet hook-up and printer. Looking for something to do this summer? Enjoy a good challenge? Do your part to help beat VPL’s Teen Summer Reading Challenge! VPL challenges Vaughan’s teens, ages 13 – 18, to read a grand total of 250,000 pages over the summer. Think you are up for it?
The challenge kicks off, June 30, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Pierre Berton Resource Library. Get a head start on your page count and join us at the All-You-Can-Read Buffet as we serve up a selection of books, magazines, graphic novels and great snacks! HOW DO I PARTICIPATE? BORN TO READ AND MOTHER GOOSE Fridays, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Join us for an interactive program for parents and caregivers with infants up to 18 months. CHAMELEON – THE SNEAKY ART OF CAMOUFLAGE Tuesday, July 27, 2 - 3 p.m. Ever play hide-and-seek and wish you could be invisible right under somebody’s nose? Learn how animals in the jungle use camouflage to stay out of sight and try to use a little camouflage on yourself! Parents be advised that facepaint will be used in this program. For ages 6-8. Getting Your Library Card Library cards are free of charge to anyone who lives, owns property, works or goes to school full time in the City of Vaughan. You can join Vaughan Public Libraries in person at any branch and online at www.vaughanpl.info. Whether you apply for your library card in person or online, you will need to bring one of the following to verify your information: • proof of your home address in Vaughan • registration at a school or college in Vaughan, or • proof of employment in Vaughan
Children can get their own library cards. If they are 13 years old or under, the parent or guardian is required to sign the child's library card. If you don't qualify for free membership as described above, you can still join VPL. Please phone any of the branches for details. Visitors to VPL You don't have to have a library card to visit branches of Vaughan Public Libraries to consult library staff or use the print collections on site. If you don’t have a card and wish to use the library's electronic resources, please bring with you valid identification, including your address (e.g. your driver's licence).
Library Services All branches have materials for reference and loan. The most comprehensive reference collections are held at Bathurst Clark Resource Library and Pierre Berton Resource Library. Books, DVDs, videos and CDs are all available in many languages to meet the needs of our diverse community. Books are also available in large print and as audio books. Community Library Link is a service to facilitate borrowing for people who are temporarily or permanently homebound.

Vaughan Public Libraries now offers a new and convenient Books by Mail service. For a fee of $6 per shipment, your items will be sent right to your doorstep. Qualified staff are always on site in each library to assist you in your search for information. They are also available to advise on leisure reading or on materials appropriate to your child's reading abilities.
Some libraries have study rooms available for groups or individual study and all libraries have meeting rooms available for booking by the public. Pierre Berton Resource Library has both a boardroom and a training suite available for rent. Details of all these services are available from the libraries and on the website.
All libraries provide free access to the Internet and to PCs equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Wireless access is available in all libraries. CD-ROM stations are available for pre-schoolers to learn basic computer and literacy skills. Each library has black and white photocopiers. Colour photocopiers are available at the Resource Libraries.
