Welcome to What’sOn at the Library What a fantastic year this has been at Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) with many wonderful Canada 150 activities and events! The fun continues throughout the fall with programs such as a special literary reading by author and playwright, Allan Stratton (p. 12) and the Vaughan 150 Dream Weaver Project (p. 5). Celebrate the conclusion of our Canada 150 events at Vaughan Loves Reading (p. 16), an after-hours evening on November 25 for Vaughan’s literati with the launch of a compilation of local writers’ works in Voices of Vaughan: a Canada 150 Anthology and a reading by best-selling and award-winning author of Lullabies for Little Criminals, Heather O'Neill!

For example, Academic One File is filled with full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources from 1980 to present day. Containing 82,719,194 articles and last updated in July 2017, it’s full of inspiring stories like Ms. Julie Payette, soon to become the 29th Governor General of Canada and one of 10 Canadians to go to space. Progress continues on the two new libraries under construction, Vellore Village South Library and the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) Library. CREATE IT! at Civic Centre Resource Library the digital media space at CCRL, has three different creation areas: a design space including two 3D printers; a green room with photography and videography equipment; and a music studio/control room containing musical instruments, music production and DJ equipment. Just think what you can create; all you need is your library card!

MAKE IT! at Pierre Berton Resource Library In true Maker fashion, PBRL's Ma k e It! offers equipment and workshops for hobbyists and professionals of all ages wanting to learn new technologies and hack the most recent tech tools. Creating is easy with tools such as Dash and Dot robotics, the Green Screen Kit or the Carvey® machine to name just a few. LEARN IT! at Bathurst Clark Resource Library BCRL is the home of Learn It! where it’s all about children’s programming and technology. Kids can create movies, discover a world of virtual reality, build computers or code all kinds of robots.
