Welcome Featured Services
Margie Singleton CEO, Vaughan Public LibrariesWelcome to the March – April issue of What’s On. By the time you read this we will have welcomed a new Library Board and Chair, but in the interim, I would like to update you on a few great initiatives coming soon to VPL.
Spring is always a busy time, with March Break activities for children complementing regular programming. However, this season is bigger and better than ever, with a number of special events and exhibits on our schedule. A Taste of Science (Civic Centre and Pierre Berton Resource Libraries) provides interactive stations that give insight into how science helps keep food safe and prevent it from rotting. This museum-grade exhibit is courtesy of Ingenium–Canada’s Science & Innovation Museum.
For those who want to enjoy the great outdoors, our first ever Adult Storywalk, will be launching at the Kortright Centre on March 4th. Richard Wagamese's book, Embers: One Ojibway's Meditations, enables you to reflect and enjoy the beauty of nature through thought-provoking prose as you meander the paths.
I would like to extend sincere appreciation and thanks for the unwavering support of the VPL staff to the Vaughan Public Library Board trustees completing their term. Their confidence and respect enabled VPL to thrive, grow and innovate.
We welcome the new Vaughan Public Library Board trustees with enthusiasm and optimism as they embark upon an exciting four years with Vaughan Public Libraries.
Best,
Margie

Dufferin Clark Library
1441 Clark Avenue West, Thornhill
Inspired by the shape of a snowflake, the Dufferin Clark Library is a bright and spacious community space. This library is located inside the Dufferin Clark Community Centre and serves as a neighbourhood spot for families, students, and entrepreneurs. The library offers a vibrant children’s area, ample seating for study or work, exhibit spaces to showcase local artistic talent, and a meeting room that can be configured in multiple ways.
“It’s exciting to see our customers joyfully using the space for such a variety of needs - studying, socializing with friends, playing board games together, reading the newspaper, or attending a program.”
This is one of the oldest VPL libraries. Before it opened in 1988, the library was housed in the Patricia Kemp Community Centre.
