Rose Savage Chair, Vaughan Public Library Board

Welcome to November’s virtual edition of What’s On, where we provide you with an overview of our virtual programs, as well as the latest library news and resources. Now that children and students are well into the new year, I would like to highlight an outstanding resource that is available to assist in their studies. Last month, Brainfuse became available via VPL’s website. This online platform connects library users with live tutoring in a variety of Ontario curriculum subjects in both English and French, as well as providing additional resources for homework help and exams. In addition, while many school libraries are closed, our three resource libraries remain open for borrowing of physical items, and a curbside pickup service remains in place at all other branches. When combined with the digital catalogue available on the VPL website, this provides all customers with safe, convenient access to items that can enrich their learning and expand their minds. There’s a great range of online programs available to choose from in November and a highlight will be our virtual session with renowned author, Jennifer Robson who will discuss the creative process and her latest novel, The Gown. Borrow a digital copy today and join us on November 19th. This month adults can learn to use wordpress, teens can improve their public speaking and children can crack our digital escape room. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and there is much more to explore this month at VPL! Best regards, Rose

We’re partnering with Level Studios to provide a professional review of student portfolios as well as advice and feedback. Touch-free checkout for your safety We made our self-checkout stations completely touch-free to minimize your contact with high-touch surfaces. Simply scan your library card and place your items one at a time on the table. It’s just one example of how we’ve changed to keep you safe.
