Welcome
Feature Services
Rose Savage Chair, Vaughan Public Library Board
Welcome to the latest issue of What’s On. Every three months, it is my honor to write an introduction to our What’s On magazine, which provides an update on all of the great events happening across our library system. The last time I put pen to paper was for our March Issue; however, the world has changed drastically since then. I am proud to say that our commitment to delivering outstanding service remains unwaivering, and this transition to a digital version of What’s On will give you a sample of that. Within days of closing our branches we launched online programming so that customers of all ages could be educated and inspired from the safety of their homes. As part of this, we’ve livestreamed story times for our youngest fans, hosted our Summer Reading Club and Teen Challenge online for elementary and high schoolers, and welcomed a host of guest speakers who have enlightened and entertained adults. At the same time, we made accessing our digital resources easier through the creation of the VPL at Home web portal, and we also increased the size of our digital collection and increased borrowing limits in key areas. If you have not attended one of our online programs before, you will find a great selection in the following pages, as well as links to resources you can enjoy wherever you are. It’s another great example of how we will always be there for you. Best regards, Rose
