Vive la Chaîne! Vive la camaraderie!
W ith this f irst newsletter of our 2021 year, delayed though it may be by the events of the past two years, I believe we continue on course to restoring all that we love about la Chaîne.
Since our last newsletter in December 2020, Bailliages across Canada have celebrated, where possible given local situations and regulations, the 2021 W orld Chaine Day and conducted local events despite all that Covid threw at us. Our local Conseils and members have embraced Zoom technology, conducted “W ine Bingos”, offshore cook ing classes, pre-pack aged f ine dining dinners ready to prepare, serve and enjoy with other members – the ingenuity of our membership never ceases to amaze me! This current issue is pack ed with examples from the past year. Please take the time to read through it all.
Now, on behalf of the National Conseil of the Bailliage du Canada, it is my pleasure to invite you to W innipeg, the Capital City of the province of Manitoba, to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of our Canadian Bailliage at our Grand Chapître. Manitoba Bailli Cameron Gray and his Grand Chapître team have been hard at work arranging some outstanding experiences f or you, highlighting the best W innipeg has to offer in dining, events and venues. They are look ing f orward to sharing dinearounds, the W elcome Reception, tours of local W innipeg venues, and the pinnacle of every Grand Chapître week end: the Grand Reception and Gala Dinner. Of course, the week end will be highlighted as always with the awards ceremony f or our National Jeune Chef s competition, and the inductions, promotions and awards for all the members of the Manitoba Bailliage.
I look forward to seeing you in Winnipeg and reexperiencing the camaraderie de la table la Chaîne allows us all.
