Bar Report

October and November have been busy months for the bar. There has been the usual two Noggins, a wedding, the Awards Dinner and then hosting Garden City Rodders for Show weekend. Thankyou to all who assisted in the running of the bar for these events. This has seen a good return to the coffers and the Garden City Rodders have certainly made a good contribution to our funds. The wedding held in the Hall in October gave our Hall a very polished look showing it can scrub up well when called upon and the good weather at Show weekend for the Hot Rod celebration ensured there was excellent use of the beer garden.

Garden City Rodders 50th Anniversary.

This was held at Cutler Park following an agreement for them to hire our facilities in their entirety for the weekend from Thursday through to Sunday afternoons inclusively. This event has raised invaluable funds for our club at a time when swap meet has had to be cancelled again due to Covid 19. They made use of The Barn for their general socialising and their registration point. The Main Hall was used for their function centre, for breakfast and evening events including 140 guests for their prize giving dinner. During the weekend there was a daily run to a venue of interest, returning each afternoon to the Club Grounds, and the bar opening from 5pm. A large number of attendees camped on site and the bar facilities were well patronized and the beer garden utilised to its fullest potential due to the very warm evenings. It was a great opportunity to spend some time with fellow motoring enthusiasts with a slightly different view of a “great car”. This was an extremely well organized event and our facilities were left in an immaculate manner. The group were an absolute pleasure to host and they certainly appreciated our magnificent facilities with many compliments being made on the venue, our friendliness, and helpfulness and even the lovely floral display in

the ladies toilets. A big thank you to the VCC team who made this all run so smoothly, Colin Hey, Ian and Marilyn McKinlay, Jan and Royce Baker, Kevin and Shona Clarkson, Phil and Marietta Jeeves, Katryna and Bryce Shaw, Jim Miles and Kevin and Gill Stevenson. And to John Ackroyd who ensured that the Hot Rodders all respected our facilities and abided by all our rules. Thanks also goes to all the attendees.
