Well that was close, one days grace. Covid/19 has raised its ugly head again. Firstly I would like to thank all our members who stepped up to the plate when we really needed you. There are far too many to name, but those of you who were there on the four days know too well who you are and the mess we would have been in had you not volunteered your time and expertise. A special thanks to Marilyn McKinlay and Katryna Shaw for the hours and hours and of heartache and stress you have had to go though. Was it all worth it, well from my perspective I am very sure it was. Will we do it again I’m also sure we will when our time comes around again. Now to the business side of things:

FRIDAY EXECUTIVE MEETING

The Delegates were asked whose parts shed had a policy on the disposing of unwanted parts.( DO WE?) Letter from Hawkes Bay Branch on the wish for a name change to include “Classic /Car/Vehicle”. Discussion on the definition of the term “Classic”. Motion put that the matter be left to March Executive Meeting. Murray Trounson gave report on National office upgrades and stage one being almost completed. Change to Club Logo: From Canterbury’s perspective I presented a report on the very poor response to the request for feedback on the proposed Logo put forward by the Club’s committee. 47 responses in total counting joint members who sent in two. Sixteen were completely against any change. Thirty one were happy to agree to new Logo with some wishing to make changes to what was put forward. These emails (names excluded) were passed on to one of our representatives on the Clubs Committee. The main points put forward were the words New Zealand /Classic/or Heritage need to be included and the colours need to be changed. After a lengthy discussion it was Moved that any decision on the

Logo be left to the March Executive Meeting so the Committee can review if any changes are required. So to sum up if you feel strongly about this matter (for or against) you have till March next year to let the Club committee know in writing or email only. Approval for National Commercial Rally (Wanganui late October 2023) given.

AGM

On line membership change postal voting. Members 8,515 ( For 1339 )(Against 89 ) “Passed” Canterbury 1287 Members (For 205. 94.04 %,) (Against 13. 5.96%) 16 .94% Voted Remit to change the club Bylaw Passed Moved: George Kear Seconded: Murray Trounson. Report of Membership 70% Club Members are over 80 yrs. 40% aged 70 to 79yrs, 26% 60 to 69yrs, 19% under 60 Vero Historic Motoring Rally pointed out only one Motorcycle entry. Awards: Presentation to Andrew Anderson on reaching 75yrs Membership. John Goddard Trophy: To Kevin Tracy for contribution of 23 articles over many years to Beaded Wheels. Presidential Award: To Ron Hassell, Banks Peninsular Branch. Other Snippets of General Business. Discussion on the difficultly of the valuation of vehicles which appear to be reducing. Addendum To Secretary’s Report

It is with great sadness I report on the passing of Ross. As those of you who would have been aware at our AGM Ross was struggling to be able to see written print and speak, and it was extremely brave of him to still try and complete his tasks as Chairman at this time in his illness. I have only got to know Ross in recent years and through working with him on committee. We always had a very good understanding of one another on the many tasks we had to undertake and he always made the right decisions for the wellbeing of the Branch. It was lovely to see him out at the grounds for OCBC last month even if it was only for a brief time it enabled him to see the Branch operating at its best during the National AGM. My thoughts are with Debbie and family at this very difficult time. May you now rest in peace Ross. Rod

Joint and Junior Members under age 21.

We have found some instances where under 21 members living as a dependent child with a main member, had been set up as Junior members, when they met the criteria for Joint members. Joint members attract the lower Joint subscription, instead of the 50% discount for Junior members. If there are Junior members in your Branch, you might want to check if they qualify as Joint members so that they can be invoiced at the correct Joint rate in the next subscriptions invoice run later this year. Junior member status is for under 21 members that do not live with a main member.
