EDITORIAL
A
s I was searching for a new theme, I met with certain difficulties; after all, inspiration doesn‘t just fall from the sky. Because of this, I decided to let myself just drift around the campsite. Steered by my hunger. Unfortunately this did not make me incredibly creative, and so I decided to go to the stem-cell characterisation. Perhaps an adrenaline-terror rush would be just the thing to get my creative braincells into gear. The experience was a sobering one, and as a thank you there was at least some chocolate. This helpfully dealt with some of the hunger, the thought of which had already been circling around in my mind like a vulture. Two problems down, but one – the main one as it were – was still outstanding. I could find nothing more to distract myself from my task, but since no one reads these articles anyway... I decided to do a few dishes. Walked across the campsite again. Observed the flies, that happily covorted on my notebook. Counted the leaves on the tree outside the window. Thought about what preconceptions exist about Scouts, and how many we had already proved true on the camp. That all of us communist, nationalsocialist worm-eaters firmly believe in God and run around in uniform all day. Naturally we can tie every knot in the book, and can make a fire even in torrential rain. In under three minutes! With a blindfold. Obviously we‘d never dream of smoking, or drinking alcohol. Each and every one of us is orderly, disciplined – but stinks, because we never shower or change out of our uniform. We spend the day chopping wood and doing manly things. Every one of us, whether Scout or Guide, is the epitome of manliness. And we never grow old, or up, and due to the motto „A Good Deed Every Day“ spend our time carting old ladies across roads. Presumably this is why all old lady in the vicinty spend their time as far away as humanly possible from roads. I am glad, to be a Scout. Ricarda Rattay

Bread for the World The huge and varied food supply on the Schachen can‘t be missed. Oases and cafes lure from all sides with delicious offers of glorious foods, that no-one can withstand for long. But there must be a downside to it, mustn‘t it? By Lydia Schröder
T
hrough all the snacks during the day, a lot of groups find that their lunch and dinner remains uneaten. Clever groups bring their extra food stuffs to the “Cafe zur weiteren Verwendung”. If you go there and take a look you‘ll notice not only the huge mountains of food but also the large banner “Bread for the World” that flaps merrily in the wind. But what actually is this organization? “Bread for the World” is THE big charity organization that is run by the evangelical and free churches of Germany, and every
year supports over 2000 projects throughout the whole world. For instance the charity cooperates with foundations that have individual project ideas, and help fund and organize them. In some cases they also receive help with development or overhauling of the original idea to make the end-goal more achievable. Now the one or the other person may be surprised to hear this and ask why the organization decides to cooperate with separate foundations rather than to trust their own initiative, however after thinking more deeply about the subject the reason for this

For them, and for all of us that enjoy the international flair that belongs to scouting, we devoted this „Telegraph International“ issue. It is completely written in foreign languages (you might spot a german article on page 10, but watch out: it‘s actually austrian), with many of them even written by our guests. Thank you! A big special thanks goes out to the international office who helped us translating the german texts until late into the night. JA

is more than obvious. The sheer amount of projects that “Brot für die Welt” supports would be impossible to fund in the same way for each one, however if each project is separately handled by its own foundation with all effort and input coming from them, the actual success rate is much higher. Cooperation in developing countries is not the only area where “Brot für die Welt” is active. Lobbying and public relation is also an important aspect of the organization. Members of the lobbying team specialize in verifying, that international treaties do not discriminate certain population groups. For this purpose they support specially picked lobbying groups in the south. The sector public relations on the other hand is specialized locally in Germany and tries to imbed the sense of sustainability with the population. The organization tries to show how easy and practical it is to make it a every day habit to help giving other people a chance of life. This is especially in accordance with the philosophy of the VCP. As scouts, we seek to make the world a better place. Thus “Brot für die Welt” discovered scouts as a major target group to raise awareness. Li-
kewise, the VCP gains in his vision of sustainability from the massive knowledge and experience of the other organization. Due to this mutually profitable collaboration, a first partnership was established two years ago. One topic of this exceptionally fruit full joint venture was and is a sustainable food concept. At this point we reach the link to the beginning of the story. The cafe of sustainability, also called the “Cafe zur weiteren Verwendung”, is a major promoter of this topic. Hence it is not surprising, that a representative of “Brot für die Welt” can be found sneaking around this quite recommendable café. Finally we would like to attached some information for all those, who would like to support the organization in its work. The biggest part of volunteering takes part in the local communities, mainly by collecting donations. Furthermore, “Brot für die Welt” sends out troops of volunteers to special events, like the biannual church days, were up to 120 People promote the noble cause and raise awareness of the food dilemma.
End of an era Since yesterday early morning news of the death of Robbin Williams has spread like wildfire. The Oscar-Prize winner died aged 63 in his home in Marin County, near San Francisco, under unknown circumstances. According to the „Tagesschau“ and others, a big fan community, under which US-President Barack Obama, is mourning the Hollywood legend. Who won‘t listen For tackling the ongoing issue of overfishing, there are fishing quotas within the European Union. To establish awareness that these restrictions are not just for fun, the EU-Commission decided to enforce these regulations more diligently. A total of ten member states, which already exceeded their limits in 2013, have to expect drastic cuts in the current year, according to a report of the “Spiegel”. The sweetest sensations of the year Finally it has happened. After Laika, Knut and Heidi, new stars have appeared on the animal hall of fame. Already in the end of July, a panda had given birth to triplets in a Chinese safari park. As the “Spiegel” reported, news had been hold back by the Chinese research center to protect the newborns. The fear to lose the babies had just been too big. 3
A story about differences I went to Germany and didn‘t know what to expect. I was afraid of differences. And it turned out: Germans are different. But not as I thought. Notes on our culture gap. By Julia, Emma and Oliver from TEG Kerstins scoutkar in Umea.
W
hen I left for Germany I did not know what to expect. I had a packing list and a date and time to be at the airport, but expect for that I had hardly no information whatsoever. I was a little nervous, I did not know anything about Germany and it was my first camp outside of Sweden. I did not know anything about German traditions or the German language. I was afraid that I would be unable to communicate with the German scouts. I was afraid, I would not be able to joke.
I did the worst thing you can do: I started being judgemental When we reached the campground I was surprised by the many black tents everywhere. The campgroud itself was not that different from Sweden, but the combination of sun and black tents made me wonder. And I did the worst thing you can do: I started being judgemental. I started thinking about all the negative things that came with having these tents and overlooked the positive. I asked one of the German leaders why they had black tents: wouldn‘t it become really hot inside during the day? The leader just laughed and said that I would soon see why. And the black tents worked exactly as good as the Swedish tents. They were warm at night and we weren‘t even in the tents during the day. Just because they were different didn‘t mean that they did not work. We Swedes had some difficulties with remembering that “Allemansrätten” does not exist in Germany. Allemansrätten is a law in Sweden that gives us permission to camp wherever we want as long as we don‘t destroy anything. We can eat berries and fruit and make campfires almost everywhere, but you can not do that here in Germany. This makes the campfires we do quite more 4
special. The food here is different from Sweden and many of my friends have pointed out that you in Germany eat a lot of bread, for example for lunch. You also cut your cheese with knives, something that I have had a big problem with, since I grew up with cheese slicers. I‘m still trying to figure out how Germans are able to cut perfect cheese slices with knives. You also drink a lot of sparkling water. The first thing we got during the evacuation. I think a lot of Swedes thought that was funny, but we are not complaining. In Sweden we usually drink tap water and sparkling water is kind of like soda: we often drink it on weekends. A lot of my friends were also surprised about the rules you have as a German scout leader. We heard that they cannot put band aids on scouts, because of the risk of an allergic reaction. And if that happens, they have all responsibility. In Sweden it‘s often the leader who puts on band-aids, not the camp doctor. And while some of us thought it was kind of silly, we started being more open-minded and understood the reason behind it. The camp itself is kind of different; it‘s more organized and you have cafés and bars, some with alcohol, which is not allowed in Sweden. But it seems like everyone is drinking with care. The cafés are comfy and we Swedes have
tried a lot of German food and drinks. Yesterday we sat around the campfire sharing German and Swedish food and drinking Chai while swapping scarves and I started thinking about how similar we actually are.
I‘m still trying to figure out how you cut perfect cheese slices with knives What makes this camp similar to ours is the feeling. The feeling of being part of a community, of friendship and of not wasting time. We eat, sleep and brush our teeth together and even though participants of this camp are from different places, we are all scouts.. It‘s good to experience different thinks. I hope that the last days here will be as fun as all the days before them.
The experience of knocking on doors The swedish scouts were invited to the „Volldampf“ national Jamboree by the troop „Albert Schweitzer“ of Emmerdingen. A Story on how an invitaion of an international group comes to be. By Martin Pfliegensdörfer

ight at the beginning of her year abroad as an Erasmus student in Umeå, Sweden, Vera of Stamm Albert Schweitzer in Emmendingen got in touch with a Swedish scout tribe. She participated in weekly scout meetings, attended camps and was eager to learn Swedish during her stay in Umeå. She organized international group meetings together with the
Swedish group leader Patrik. Their idea was to fascinate teenagers for scouting. All that happened at the end of 2011. Having returned to Germany, Vera stayed in touch with Patrik. In that way they came up with the idea that a Swedish group could visit the national jamboree. Last September Vera suggested to her tribe they attend the jamboree together with a Swedish partner

group. They were delighted and set out to plan the trip. In Umeå scouts organized financial support and sold ginger bread. Then, in January, the next mile stone followed: The final registration to the camp. On 4 August 13 scouts between 13 and 15 years old and 5 group leaders from Sweden arrived in Munich. By bus they traveled on to Emmendingen where they were welcomed by host families. One day before the camp they moved on to the German tri be’s camping ground. They played games together, built up black tents and ate ice cream. After two nights in host families they traveled on to the Swabian Alps and built up their “new home” for the next 10 days. English is a common language, but once in a while this still leads to communication problems. Moreover, signing up for activities was not easy for Non-German speakers, so most of the interesting workshops were already full. But their good spirits carried on. The German black tents are an eye catcher, but to care for the tents every day was new for them. The hike was interesting for the young and also for the older Swedish. The whole group had to stop to take a picture of a big and beautiful field of sunflowers. Also walking through the many villages was a new experience. Around Umeå is a lot of nature so you walk through the forest and meet only a few people. The experience to knock on a door and ask for water or a place to sleep was a new one too. During a festive ceremony around the campfire neckerchiefs were exchanged over bread-on-a-stick. This way everyone had a memento of the occasion. On Friday they travel by bus to Munich and fly back to Sweden, because on Monday school starts again in Sweden. Maybe a further exchange will follow next year.

Helping and experiencing For the first time on a VCP national jamboree there is an International Service Team (IST). This group consists of 17 participants, all of whom are from different countries. By Ricarda Rattay
The occurrence of the first meeting of the entire German contingent at this camp marks a year before the World Scout Jamboree in Japan. More than half the Scouts of the German contingent were present, gladly taking the opportunity to get to know the leaders and each other before the trip. Susi Heinrich and Annette von Stockhausen – who are responsible for the German presence at the Jamboree – presided over the event, where Scouts received vital information and were introduced to Japanese culture. Scouts were split into groups of eight and had to cooperate to complete a number of traditionally Japanese tasks. Not only did this familiarize them with some of the more famous aspects of Japanese culture, it also improved relations between dif-

he idea for an IST developed because it was always difficult to find enough staff members for such big camps. Based on an initiative of André Jörg, the national scout assembly of the VCP therefore decided to fill vacancies with foreign staff. In other countries and scout associations this is already quite usual and mostly works without problems. Thirty guides and scouts contacted us for our national jamboree, seventeen of whom are now here and work in different areas of the camp. Apart from supporting the food supply, three sub-camps, Cafés, the kindergarten and the camp newspaper, they also help in the hospital. To have some variety in their programme and to get to know the surroundings, fourteen of them went to castle Hohenzollern with their leaders Lena Fürnitz and André Jörg on Monday. Both reported that until now there were only positive responses about the IST from both sides: they strengthen each other and are an enrichment for the camp. The IST is an experience worth having, which every scout should definitely consider. i Those who are interested can get involved as staff members, not only abroad but also in other associations.

ferent scouts who may not have known one another previously. A highlight of the meet was the opportunity to renew acquaintances with group leaders and fellow members, as well as to meet new friends from all over Germany who would join in the odyssey to Japan. So far 30,000 people between 14 and 17 have signed up for the upcoming Jamboree in Yamaguchi. Scouts from all over the world will mingle in a colorful mix of cultures and traditions, eager to discover the different interpretations of Baden-Powell’s original concept and perhaps even take away new ideas to try out back home. In the 10 days of the Jamboree many new friendships will be made, many badges and neckerchiefs will be swapped and many un-

forgettable memories will be forged during this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Scouting has always been about the breaking of barriers between people, and so the theme of the 23rd National Jamboree – “A Spirit of Unity” - is the perfect choice to epitomize the global aim of Scouts around the world. Of course, participants are also expected to take this chance to explore the land of Japan, whose rich and vibrant history provides a wonderful backdrop for this event based on mutual understanding and shared values. To make the most of this, the German contingent plans to spend four weeks in Japan overall. This will require much rethinking of their traditional culture for
our German Scouts, and this was also one of the aims of yesterday’s meeting – no one wants Scouts keeling over from culture shock! Especially the deviations between Eastern and Western foods shall be very interesting, not only due to the dietary differences but also due to the problems presented by eating with chop sticks. Naturally our Germans will also have to be prepared to deal with earthquakes, which unfortunately occur more frequently in Japan than in their homeland. Those German Scouts going to the Jamboree have now been working together for over half a year now. They’ve been separated into groups based on federal state of origin, and so troops of about 40 people
each have been formed. Each of these groups will individually plan their stay, the entire German contingent meeting up only for the flights there and back again, as well as - of course - the Jamboree itself. This introduces the next important point of the pre-Jamboree preparations: the group presentations. The big stage at the camp in Yamaguchi is to host a presentation from each German group, where they introduce themselves and the federal state they come from. So the demonstrations are already being rehearsed. Variously different aspects of German culture from diverse federal states will be represented through costume, music and carefully organized drama and narration – all done with German precision we hope! The time until the flight in July 2015 will surely fly. Our German contingent is already looking forward to experiencing a wonderful Jamboree with other Scouts from all over the globe and taking away wonderful memories from this once in a lifetime experience. And who knows – they might just meet up with old acquaintances from the Japanese Jamboree at the next National Camp in three years time to talk about their experiences, renew friendships and compare swapped neckerchiefs.
Go Forth & Hike! The hike is a main part of the National Jamboree program. At earlier National Jamborees hiking was only one of many activities, however this year the management for the National Jamboree 2014 started a “HikeInitiative”. By Maximilian Randelshofer

his initiative was especially important for the two local camp leaders Isa and Martin who come from Württemberg. They wanted every Scout to be able to experience their home, the beautiful Swabian Alps. One of the main goals of this initiative was to secure the tradition of hiking in scouting. The inhabitants of the surrounding villages were also to be encouraged to come and visit the camp and experience the Scout lifestyle. As easy as this sounds, the organization was no piece of cake. The Team Dabba&Gugga (Walking and Watching) were founded in Württemberg and started with the planning of routes for the hike-initiative, set on catering for groups on the jamboree. All in all hikes were planned for over 1200 Scouts - an incredible number. Especially
HIKE STATISTICS all the prior organization was a huge challenge for the team: camping places had to be found and booked and places of interest for the different scouting groups had to be discovered. A lot of coordination was needed. At the moment the “Dabba&Gugga-Bahnhöfle” has a lot to do – hundreds of Scouts from the National Jamboree have left the campsite to go hiking in the last few days, some of whom are still on the road. This is a fantastic achievement and both the Leadership Team and Dabba&Gugga can be justifiably proud of themselves. Whether the concept of hiking will be continued in future national jamborees or even in scouting itself ? Only time will tell. However the National Jamboree Leadership Team would certainly welcome it.
About 5000 people have participated in the offers of the „Dabba ond Gugga“-team. Included are participants of the hikes on the hiking days, except for those who went to the swimming pool or did individual excursions. On hiking-day 1, 1139 people were on the move, hiking day 2 counted 1017 people. On 71 tours (of which 21 were easy, 32 were medium and 18 were hard) the scouts arrived at 12 different sleeping places. 70 sighseeing-places could be visited. Other offers like climbing, canooing, visits and excursions were attended by 1628 scouts, of which 850 were canooing on the Lauter. 7
Voilà, les scouts français! Cette année nous acceuillons aussi un groupe de scouts français au camp national de Schachen. Ici ils se présentent au cadre du „Telegraph international“. Bonjour à toutes et tous, Nous faisons partie de l‘association des scouts et des guides de France. Etants des pionniers et caravelles, nous sommes des jeunes entre 14 et 17 ans, qui portent la chemise rouge. Originaux de Sallandris, une ville-haute savoyarde qui se situe au pied du Mont-Blanc, nous campons sous des tentes canadiennes et sommes partenaires du groupe d‘Ingolstadt. Nous avons participé à un pré-camp à Spaidingen pendant 5 jours en compagnie de deux troupes d‘Ingolstadt, ce qui nous a permet de pouvoir commencer à les connaître. Les allemands étants très jovials et acceuil-
lants, nous admirons leurs constructions impressionantes, les tentes noires, ainsi que l‘organisation et la punctualité typiquement allemande. Les différents ‚newsletters‘ nous ont aidé à preparer ce camp et nous sommes heureux d‘avoir pu participer aux ‚workshops‘. C‘est surtout l‘atelier „fabrication de fleurs en tissu“ qui nous a plu beaucoup. "ما أن تصل أرض املخيم الوطني "فولدامف" املقام يف "شاخن بالقرب من "منسغني" حتى تالحظ أعمال الريادة املنتشرة يف جميع أنحاء املخيم. عما ّ دائما ما كانت أعمال الريادة هي التي مت ّيز املخيمات الكشف ّية فيتنافس األفراد يف تصاميمهم و دقة,سواها من املخيمات تتظافر اجلهود و ها هو, العقد, احلبال, العصي, الفكرة.تنفيذهم و لكن ملاذا هذه األعمال؟ و ملاذا يسعى.العمل يخرج إلى احلياة الكشافة إلى تنفيذها يف املخيمات؟ و ما هي أهميتها يف املخيمات الكشفية؟ اللورد,كانت الريادة دائما جزء ًا من رؤية مؤسس احلركة الكشفية , ففي الطبعة األولى من الكشافة للفتيان. يف التربية,بادن باول األبراج, اجلسور, حياة اخلالء – العرزال:تناول الفصل رابعا فأحد, فقد أهتم اللورد بها لكونها أعمال تُنفذ يف الطبيعة.إلخb

Trabajamos con valores, desde los más pequeños a los mayores, en diferentes secciones: Castores (de 5 a 7 años) „Compartir“ , Lobatos (de 8 a 11 años) „Haremos lo Mejor“, Scouts (de 12 a 16 años), „Siempre Listos“, Rovers (de 17 a 21 años) „Servir“, Scouters „Siempre Listos Para Servir“ y los mayores, la sección de Canguros „Acción“. Tenemos varias tradiciones, entre ellas, „La Tribu”, donde cada persona decide si quiere formar parte de ella, una vez está decidida a entrar, ha de realizar diferentes pruebas para mejorar sus defectos, de forma autónoma comprometiéndose ha mejorarlas. Cuando ya formas parte de la tribu, se te asigna un nombre relacionado con el defecto que quieres mejorar, nombre del tótem personal. Para acabar, en nuestro grupo, realizamos proyectos sobre la Biodiversidad, igualdad de género y medio ambiente, en el que todas las secciones participan.
Bad Weather? Aye, No Half! Weel, by noo the evacuation is aye the talk o‘ the whole camp, if nae the whole VCP! The first national camp tae be evacuated – ah cannae help but wonder if the camp leadership team is proud o‘ thae honour.

ne thing they should aye be proud o‘ though is the efficiency o‘ the hale operation; ye can aye try an‘ move fower toosand scouts in a coupla hoors an‘ ye tell me how ye get oan! O‘ course, comin‘ frae Scotland masel‘, I‘ve seen the aye blustery squall or twa, but even I have tae say that the weather oan the Schachen is in a class o‘ its own! While the worst o‘ the storm did thankfully pass aroon‘ instead o‘ ower the camp, naebody can say that evacuating wisnae the best plan o‘ action. Fortunately ony a few tents decided tae bow tae the weather, wi‘ all o‘ the main structures remaining relatively unharmed. It was mainly the Jurts oan the South-West side o‘ the camp that had tae bear the brunt o‘ the weather, wi‘ a few deciding tae fold. Ulli frae the Viking clan in Perpetuum Mobile wis wan o‘ the unlucky few whose Jurt decided tae collapse, however she said that due tae excellent forewarning an‘ organisa-
tion the on‘y real problem wis things getting drookit, an‘ even that wis nae so bad. No even the guitar wis harmed, a‘though it wis aye a near miss, whit wi‘ the central pole fa‘ing ony a wee bit tae the side o‘ it! Now if anyone‘s aye seen ane o‘ those muckle black tents fall, ye‘ll aye ken that thae tak‘ nae pris‘ners – if ye‘re sittin‘ in ane o‘ them when it decides tae come doon ye can easily get flattened. Mare proof that thae evacuation wis a braw idea. Faer a pleasant change all the comments oan Facebook seem tae mirror this sentiment: “Hochachtung vor der Planung, habt ihr toll gemacht ” Even the parents are happy – who‘d ha‘ thocht! Efter a fairly sleepless night then the return tae the camp made fer a pretty relaxed next day. Maist o‘ the Scouts were quite delighted wi‘ their wee adventure, reporting that the atmosphere in the schools where they

sheltered wis pretty fantastic. Alex and Felix frae “Siedlung Lüneborg” eagerly reported a‘body who wis sheltering in the school singing “We Will Rock You”, tae the great amusement o‘ all. Österreicher, die Exoten In Deutschland ist doch alles wie in Österreich. Denken die Österreicher. Oder nicht? Zumindest die Deutschen scheinen die Österreicher für andersartiger zu halten, als die sich selbst.
W
as? Ihr fahrt auf ein Pfadfinderlager in Deutschland? Da ist doch alles wie bei uns.“ So oder ähnlich könnte es den österreichischen Teilnehmern und Teilnehmerinnen ergangen sein. Bei Internationalität in der Pfadfinderbewegung denken viele an Jamborees, an Skandinavien und ferne Länder. Bei Urlaubsreisen ist es ähnlich, meist geht’s ans Meer oder auf eine Städtereise. Für die Deutschen hingegen ist Österreich ein beliebtes Reiseziel und vielleicht auch ein Stück weit exotisch, ab und zu zumindest. Warum sonst haben die österreichischen Gastgruppen ihr Lagerhandbuch in Englisch erhalten? „Am Anfang war es herausfordernd in unserer Kochgruppe als die Schwaben manche Worte nicht verstanden. Mittlerweile verstehen wir uns aber ganz gut.“, meint eine der Leiterinnen der Tullner. Ihre Wortwahl und Aussprache werde aber immer „deutscher“, meinte sie im Gespräch und fügte hinzu: „Zuhause werden sie mich darauf ansprechen.“
Manche Pfadfinderbegriffe wie die Stufenbezeichnungen sind anders und zu „Stamm“ sagen die Pfadis in der Alpenrepublik ganz einfach „Pfadfindergruppe“. „Was war denn anders als bei uns?“, könnte Jo aus Hall ihre Mitleitenden nach ihrer Rückkehr fragen. Die vielen Schwarzzelte sind sicher einer der Punkte. „Wir haben sie inzwischen zu schätzen gelernt.“, meinte Gaby, eine Helferin aus Österreich. Super fände sie, dass sie im Zelt stehen kann und es viel Platz gibt. Aufgefallen ist auch, dass viel mehr gesungen wird und die Vorausscheidungen zum Singewettstreit waren eine ganz neue Erfahrung. „Ein Familienteillager gibt es bei uns auch nicht“, meinte Gaby beeindruckt und fand es super. Insgesamt fühlen sich die Gäste aus dem Nachbarland sehr wohl und mit Sicherheit ensteht die ein oder andere Freundschaft. So wie bei Steffi von der Tullner Pfadfindergruppe, die schon lange Zeit im Team der IMWe mitarbeitet. „Wir werden zu Hause sicher viel vom Volldampf erzählen“, zog Gaby ein Fazit. Von Phips

Nuestra experiencia en Volldampf Hace tiempo un poeta español escribió “caminante no hay camino, se hace camino al andar”. El camino de nuestro grupo empezo unos meses atrás, cuando descubrimos Volldampf.

urante este curso hicimos diversas actividades para poder costejarnos el viaje. Una vez reunido el dinero, fuimos al aeropuerto de Barcelona y allí empezó nuestra aventura. Al ser nuestra primera vez en Alemania, todo es nuevo para nosotros. La gente, las costumbres, el clima, la comida etc. Pero para ser honestos lo que más nos ha sorprendido ha sido la manera de vivir el escoutismo en éste país. Cierto es que en España existen multitud de grupos escouts, pero su manera de ha-
cer es totalmente diferente a la alemana. En España no utilizamos tiendas tan grandes ni podemos hacer fuego dentro de ellas. Tampoco hacemos contruciones con troncos y en lo que a jamborees se refiere, no los solemos celebrar. Nuestros campamentos son más pequeños y simples, aunque no por ello dejan de ser acojedores. Aun lo dicho, venir a Alemania nos ha hecho descubrir un mundo nuevo y otra forma de vivir el escoutismo. Pero si hay algo de lo que estamos especialmente agradecidos a Volldampf, es ha-
bernos dado la oportunidad de conocer a el grupo scout de Berg. Desde el primer día nos hicieron sentir como en casa, su forma de tratarnos fue formidable y núnca dudaron en ayudarnos ante cualquier problema. Por todo ello, nos gustaría acabar éste artículo dedicándoles unas palabras: hier haben wir wahre Freunde und Brüderlichkeit kennengelernt und deshalb unsere deutsche Freunde werden immer bei uns willkommen sein .
