Catie Kruger, SVEA State President As we wrap up our year, I just wanted to take the time to say Thank you for all of your hard work this year. As aspiring educators, our work is often demanding and time consuming but so worth it for our future students. So with that please relax and enjoy your summer so that when you return in the fall (wither back to SVEA or to your own classroom) you are ready to do the work. That being said, if you would like to continue the work through the end of the semester and this summer this issue will present you with opportunities to do so. Please keep in mind that I am still available to visit campus either in person or on skype!

SVEA Convention 2018
Attend the VEA Rep Assembly as a Visitor! The VEA's Representative Assembly will be April 19th- 21st in Hampton, Virginia and we are encouraging all SVEA members (especially local members) to attend as a visitor! This is a fantastic way to network with VEA and VEA- retired members. It is free to attend but the cost of travel and accommodations will be your responsibility. If you would like to attend, even if you can only attend one day, please email Catie at ykrug001@odu.edu by April 13th at 3pm.
Attend the NEA's Student Leadership Conference This year's NEA SLC will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 27th-29th. This is an awesome chance to connect with Aspiring Educators from across the country. The cost of registration is $100 and you will be responsible for this as well as travel and accommodations. I highly recommend trying to obtain funding from your university. If you'd like to attend please let Catie Know by May 1st at 5pm at ykrug001@odu.edu
NEA- Student Program Awards The NEA Student Programs gives out national awards every year at the NEA Student Leadership Conference. SVEA won two of these awards in 2017! Please consider apply for the awards below. To receive a application packet please email Catie at ykrug001@odu.edu
