But what permanently sealed the mystique of Masi was the 1979 Academy Award-winning cycling movie “Breaking Away”. Like James Bond in his clever Aston Martin or the Lone Ranger with his horse Silver, Dave Stoller aboard his red-orange 1978 Gran Criterium became an instant Hollywood legend, especially when he drafted behind a big rig at 60 miles-per-hour in his small chainring!
