A MESSAGE FROM THE PUBLISHER Hello, Greater Des Moines Area Vendor Guide Readers! Welcome to the first Greater Des Moines Area Vendor Guide. I would like to take this time to thank my advertisers because without them this publication would not be a success. For those of you receiving, and using the guide, congratulations for taking that first step of reviewing the ads, and calling and utilizing the vendors who have a passion for the multi-family industry like I do. Whether you are on site or at the corporate office, you have just saved your company time and money by thumbing through and making the call to better your communities. I am incredibly proud of this first issue and I know that it will only get better and more robust with time and the cooperation of the vendors who advertise, and the clients who use them. A little about me. This year is my 37th year helping to serve the multi-family industry. I started on site and remained for ten years, managing and opening new communities, in Des Moines and throughout the Midwest. I became an ARM (Accredited Resident Manager) and happily never imagined myself doing anything else! As luck would have it, in 1987 the publishers of the Apartment Blue Book/Apartment Finder, found me! This started a 20-year journey of publishing ads for clients who needed to fill vacancies. I felt very lucky as it allowed me to stay close to the industry I loved, but also was a change. This rental guide would become a 200 plus page award winning book. It put competitors out of business, and did for the advertisers what I promised it would doâ&#x20AC;Śrent apartments. After the book was sold, I pursued another multi-family opportunity that allowed me to obtain my Insurance License and become involved with selling a property damage waiver product in 8 Midwest states. Recently I have found myself a licensed Real Estate Agent and back on multi-family sites, along with publishing and owning this very guide you have in your hands. All along the way I stayed very involved with the GIAA (Greater Iowa Apartment Association). This association which I helped found with a group of dedicated individuals has gotten nothing but better over the years through hard work and leadership. I am very proud to say that this year in 2019 I was awarded the GIAA Pinnacle of Excellence Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Multi-Family Industry. Renovation Systems Brings Services to Des Moines BY DAVID SCHELLER

enovation Systems first began serving the Twin Cities area’s multi-family housing industry in 1996. Renovation Systems is further backed by Shaw Total Care and is one of their approved vendors. Because of their knowledge, attention to detail, and leadership in carpet cleaning, Renovation Systems is Shaw Industries’ first carpet cleaning partner in their national program. Theirs is no cursory understanding of their materials’ capabilities -- Renovation Systems employs Professional Testing Lab, the same outfit which The Big Three engage to test their products, so that they can know exactly how each type of flooring they offer weathers under the conditions heavy usage will subject them to.
