Since the Multi-Housing industry tends to have a high turnover of on-site employees, it is beneficial to look for ways to integrate this shift to remote work. As the industry continues to adjust, decisions must be made to determine which jobs can be accomplished remotely and which position requires face to face interaction.
The decision to retain or incorporate additional remote work positions will depend on individual Multi-Housing companies. Goals can remain the same, but there can be a reconfiguration of what time spent at work means.
The concept and implementation of working remotely is not new for businesses, but a relatively new concept for the Multi-Housing industry. This shift was brought about largely due to recent advancements in technology; and these advancements have grown exponentially as a direct result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Pre-pandemic, the majority of management and leasing responsibilities required an on site team presence. As more proof for the popularity of remote work, the advent of the pandemic was an opportunity for people to slow down and rethink their lives; in fact, there is an unprecedented number of workers leaving the traditional 9-5 workforce as they weigh their priorities and wish to alleviate the stress of their jobs. The hustle and bustle of getting up early, rushing to get ready for work and in some cases, a very long commute, are no longer desirable.
