VENEZUELA REAFFIRMS STANCE ON ANTI-IMPERIALIST IMPOSITIONS OF US AND ITS ALLIES

Venezuela reaffirmed in the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), held on Saturday in Havana, Cuba; its anti-imperialist stance that the Government of the United States (US) and its allies seek to impose on the South American nation. The president of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reiterated it on Sunday, through a message broadcast on the social network Facebook, accompanied by audiovisual material of the event in Havana.

the ACS, and said that on his return to Venezuela, he will continue with the agenda to reinvigorate the new productive economic model in the country, and thus solve the national situation, resulting from the sharp drop in oil prices and unconventional warfare, promoted by the right. ‘‘We return to the land of (Simón) Bolívar and (Hugo) Chávez grateful for the support and to continue working to consolidate our country as a productive power,” wrote the First National Leader.

‘‘This week we close with an excellent activity receiving the support of our sister countries in the Summit of the Association of Caribbean States in Havana, where we held fast to our position of rejecting interference and tutelage which imperialism aims to impose”, the message posted by the head of state in the social network says.

At the Seventh Summit of Heads of State and Government of the ACS, the international body passed a special motion, which supports the initiatives of dialogue between the national government and the Venezuelan opposition, based on respect for the Constitution and human rights, in order to consolidate peace in the nation.

CUBAN FOREIGN MINISTRY SUPPORTS REJECTION OF OAS ATTEMPT TO ATTACK VENEZUELA Foreign Ministry statement supporting Venezuela's difficult but victorious diplomatic battle against the Organization of American States' attempt to intervene in the country's internal affairs The sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela undertook a difficult but victorious diplomatic battle against the interventionist plans of imperialism and oligarchies, in the Extraordinary Session of the Organization of American States (OAS) Permanent Council, held Wednesday, June 1st. The nation was able to reassert the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of states, and the right of these to choose their own political, economic, and social systems, without external interference, as established in the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed by heads of state and government during the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Summit, held in Havana in January of 2014. The hysterical, awkward, unethical manner in which the OAS Secretary General attempted to serve dark interests is surprising. Mr. Almagro attempted to apply the Inter-American Democratic Charter, in particular its Article 20, allegedly directed toward responding to severe breakdowns or alterations in constitutional order, which was not invoked at the time of the 2002 coup against President Hugo Chávez Frías, nor to condemn coup attempts which have plagued the region over the last 15 years, with only one exception in 2009, when the United States and some right-wing forces mounted strong resistance. To do so, assuming authority which he does not possess, without any mandate from member states, with the support of elements of Venezuela's coup-plotting opposition and other reactionaries with dubious reputations, Mr. Almagro wrote a slanderous, interventionist report, which he made public in violation of established procedures. All appearances indicated that a triumphal parade was at hand, but the Secretary General, OAS bureaucrats, and their ghastly mentors forgot that we do not live in 1962, when with shameful complicity the organization tried and convicted socialist Cuba.

Public Declaration

Making the difference were the tone of the debate; forceful condemnations of the Secretary Generals' indecent role; the firm positions of ALBA-TCP sister nations; the calm, clear arguments of those who have chosen dialogue; respect among countries and peace as diplomatic norms; and the measured but firm Caribbean resistance to the treacherous conspiracy against Venezuela. The Ministry of Foreign Relations considers what has now occurred in Washington as new evidence that Our America has changed, although the OAS continues to be an unreformable instrument of U.S. domination over the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, a reminder of what President Raúl Castro Ruz said in December of 2008, and reiterated during the recent 7th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, when paraphrasing José Martí, he asserted, “Before Cuba returns to the OAS, the northern seas will unite with the southern seas, and a snake will be born from the egg of an eagle.’’ We once again reiterate to the Bolivarian, Chavista Revolution - solidary and generous - to President Nicolás Maduro Moros, the civic-military union, and the valiant people, the full support of the Revolutionary people and government of Cuba, and our unwavering confidence in the triumph of their just cause. Promoting the Unknown about Africa Harambee Stars stun Congo to give Stanley Okumbi maiden win

Harambee Stars forward Ayub Timbe celebrates his goal against Republic of Congo during their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani on June 5, 2016. Stars won 2-1.

Stars started strongly with Johanna, captain Victor Wanyama and Ismail Gonzalez all making statements of intent early in the game but it is the visitors who drew first blood after Gonzalez was punished for a foul inside the box which Oniangue stepped forward and sent Boniface Oluoch the wrong way for the opener.

Congo goalkeeper Christopher Mafoumbi with 22 minutes to the final whistle to give coach Okumbi his maiden win. Okumbi could not hide his relief at claiming his maiden international win after four attempts. “I want to thank the fans. They’ve been with us through and through. We were lacking in that support and that had affected the morale of the players. I hope that in future the entire country can come out in support of us whether we are winning or not,” he said.

Stars pushed hard for the equaliser and their efforts were soon rewarded after Timbe pounced on a long drop ball from Oluoch to drill home with a powerful volley. The Kenyans upped the tempo in midfield with Wanyama, Francis Kahata and Gonzalez dictating play but the Red Devils had another close chance of taking the lead with Dikamona Clevio rattling the bar just eight minutes before half time.

While the victory soothed a wounded national pride in this failed qualification campaign for Kenya, it all but ended Congo’s hopes of securing a ticket to the Cup of Nations finals.

Under-pressure Harambee Stars coach Stanley Okumbi made his first tactical change in the 54th minute, bringing in experienced defending midfielder Anthony Akumu for Gonzalez - who received a warm applause from the spectators as he walked off the pitch.

The win all but assured Guinea Bissau, considered minnows before the qualifiers started, of a place in next year's continental showpiece in Gabon. www.nation.co.ke Nairobi, June 5th, 2016

With the home crowd anxious for a win, Wanyama picked the ball in midfield before releasing Johanna with a clever ball and the Mathare United man outsprinted his marker and looped the ball past For more publications go to: issuu.com/venezuelanembassynairobi 4
