To Chávez our best tribute ... En route to NAM This is how we denominate the enthusiastic meeting that l held on Thursday, 28th July at the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Nairobi, Kenya.
cooperation. It is up to us to advance a comprehensive action plan to publicize the history of NAM, the ideas of the forerunners in Bandung, Indonesia.
We convened this day for the purpose of the 62nd birthday of the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution Hugo Chavez. We met in Nairobi on this date to review some of his speeches where his views and concepts on the South are reflected; we found it a good tribute to his memory.
On the table that brought together various student leaders from Nairobi some potentials of the South were identified, as well as the threats and risks that are similar; hence we set to clarify the origins and so make characterizations for future meetings.
Conversing last 28th July on Chavez and his proposals towards Africa, South-South cooperation and complementarity allowed us to renew our ideas so that we can undertake the task that lays aheads from September 2016, when Venezuela will chair the Non Aligned Movement (NAM).
With Different interventions heard, the young people committed to the destiny of the South we could corroborate that in Nairobi, as it presides over the NAM from September 2016 Venezuela will not be alone.
In the Conversation-dialogue various opinions, proposals, initiatives emphasizing the political and pedagogical task were demonstrated. A dozen students took on the role of all proposals that were evaluated. What is the relevance of NAM today? This question served to clarify questions, to exchange concepts and define tasks.

In 12 years Venezuela has edited more than 11 million books property, he detailed while participating with the mayor of Caracas, Jorge Rodriguez, at the opening of the 7th Book Fair of Caracas.
Minister of People's Power for Culture, Freddy Ñañez, said on Friday that since 2004 more than 11 million books in Venezuela have been released, of which 20% were distributed free and the rest through the public network of bookshops selling texts at low prices.
In this regard, he stressed that the origin of the editorial policy of the state is founded in the Robinson Mission, the social program created by Chavez that provided the tools so that more than one million people learn to read and write.
The massive edition began with the Basic Theme Library, a collection of books of the best writers in the country, integrating topics to understand to be Venezuelan, with texts on identity, territory, indigenous cultures, science, social issues, etc. After that, the editions of books increased to reach more than 11 million, edited only by the Ministry of Culture and which does not include publications of various state institutions and ministries such as Information and Communication. Since its inception in 2004, it has allocated part of its efforts to editing texts for understanding and media criticism. Ñañez noted that of the more than 11 million books, one million of them were copies of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes, distributed in 2005 for free in all Bolivar squares in the country, an act unprecedented in publishing history of the nation. 500,000 free copies of Les Miserables were also distributed, the greatest work of French writer Victor Hugo. The minister said that all these editorial policies are based on three premises dictated by Commander Hugo Chavez: democratization, massification and decentralization of cultural
"The Robinson Mission accomplished this miracle that was to bring all those comrades to be residents of the word, language and performers of reading. The Mission Robinson created new paradigms for editorial policy because they were new readers and new producers of knowledge" he analyzed. He remembered the Basic Library Theme and from there the milestones that have emerged from this policy that has achieved that 80% of Venezuelans read regularly and routinely. "Venezuela has become a country of readers and the involvement of the state is paradigmatic, there is no state that has the publishing success of Venezuela," stressed the minister in a VTV transmission. He said that the State participation in publishing demolished the myth of those who said that this would generate losses and even unfair competition in the space of independent or alternative publishers. He said that "it has not happened but state intervention in popularizing the book has generated a much stronger dynamic distribution."
