A total of 8,089,320 Venezuelans participated in the election of 537 members of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), a figure that represents 41.53% of the electoral roll, informed the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Tibisay Lucena. While giving the first bulletin with the results of the elections of the ANC, she thanked the work of the workers of the Electoral Power and of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FNB). "This has been an extraordinary, unusual, distinct choice. The balance is extremely positive because it won the peace, won Venezuela. Despite the violence, despite the threats, Venezuelans were able to express themselves," she said from the headquarters of the CNE in Caracas. She noted that there were areas in some municipalities of the country such as 1
MĂŠrida state where even at 10:30 p.m. people were voting because of relocated polling stations as a result of violence. Lucena made special recognition to the 1,500 people who did not have to vote in the Contingency Center installed in the Polyhedron of Caracas; However, they stayed until the end of the day and signed a statement of participation, "although without the validity of the vote, but of the will and the strong desire to vote and could not do so." "To all these people, congratulations for this great day, for that indelible and democratic spirit of the people of Venezuela," she said. She recalled that on Tuesday, August 1, eight representatives were elected by the indigenous people who participated in the ANC. www.cne.gov.ve
