Venezuela calls on CELAC to create a new union to serve the people.

Through channels such as the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States (CELAC), the countries of South America, the Caribbean and Central America have joined forces to start the process of reviewing new integration and consensus of the Americas, said Nicolás Maduro, President of the Republic.

"The time has come for a new union of Latin America and the Caribbean. Venezuela comes to make a great call for unity and service for our people to create a new important union," said the Head of State at the 5th Summit of Heads of State and Government of CELAC held in the Dominican Republic.

At the summit, the President Maduro called upon the countries to come together and unite in order to face the challenges of this world that occur daily. Also in order to avoid confrontations between people that are promoted by factors that wish to bring and spread conspiracies.

President Maduro stressed that in the 200 years of republican life in Latin America, there was never a moment of integration such as the one presented by CELAC.

"The 21st Century has started well for Latin America and the Caribbean. We are happy to share this historic day of Latin American and Caribbean countries .The 21st Century must be our century," he said.

Maduro thanked the support of CELAC countries in rejecting the interventionist decree of the former president of the United States, Barack Obama, in which Venezuela is considered as a threat to the American nation. "I am deeply grateful for the unanimous support in solidarity and support for Venezuela," he said.

He also was grateful for the support of CELAC especially in its role in the process of dialogue in Venezuela carried out by the National Government with representations from the opposition, meetings that also had the participation of ex presidents, the Vatican and the Union of South American Nations. www.mre.gov.ve

Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC) reiterates rejection of Barack Obama's Executive Order against Venezuela The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Delcy Rodríguez, described the CELAC summit as being constructive and fruitful. In her statement, the Head of Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace ratified the willingness of the government of President Nicolas Maduro to establish relations with the United States especially through dialogue, respect and adherence to international law.

At the same time, she stressed again that the regional body rejects the decree signed by former President Barack Obama, which considers the South American country as a "threat" to US national security and foreign policy. "We have the support of CELAC who request that this Executive Order be reversed," she said.

She emphasized that Venezuela will respond exclusively to official positions that come from Presidents Trump Administration. "When there is an official position we will always also respond with an official position through the spirit of dialogue and understanding so that our countries can, in favor of the people, establish relations of cooperation and respect. But we will not act if there is media speculation and unofficial positions," said Minister Rodriguez.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister added that at some point, the relationship between Celac and China, Russia and India, "countries that are part of the new emerging geopolitical bloc", will be discussed in future.

Social movements express open support for the Bolivarian Revolution

During the 5th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) "for peace, unity and integration of Our America," held on the 23rd and 24th January, social movements and political forces carried out the "Declaration of Santo Domingo" .

The declaration seeks to unite efforts to fight and protect national sovereignty, democracy, sustainable development and the guarantee of all human rights in the region including the defense of interests and rights of nations and its people.

In the Declaration of Santo Domingo, they expressed their unconditional support for the Bolivarian Revolution and the legitimate government led by President NicolĂĄs Maduro. They also demanded the repeal of the interfering Executive Order from the United States Government that qualifies Venezuela as a threat to its national security.

It emphasized the importance of combating interventionism, racism, misogyny and xenophobia. It also at the same time endorsed the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a peaceful Zone.

They strongly rejected the implementation of a new Condor Plan in the region by military acts in conjunction with foreign powers and organizations such as NATO "We demand the withdrawal of MINUSTAH from Haiti, the first country that rose against colonial domination and the country that we will always support.�

Through the declaration, they supported the struggle of Puerto Rico for its independence, the sovereign defense of the Argentine Republic over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands; the efforts of the Colombian people to achieve peace through the agreements reached between the Colombian government and the FARC-EP and also demanded the immediate lifting of the blockade of Cuba.

Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on Israel Illegal Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories

CommuniquĂŠ 1. The Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) expresses its deep concern about the most recent developments in the occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem, in particular with regards to the continuation and escalation of illegal policies and measures by Israel, the occupying power, aimed at expanding its illegal settlement campaign and continuing to consolidate its occupation and half-century invasion of Palestinian lands and violation of the rights of the Palestinian people.

2. The Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) strongly condemns the recent provocative decisions by Israel, the occupying power, to continue its settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem, in grave violation of International law and in direct and deliberate violation of relevant United Nations resolutions, including the recently adopted Security Council resolution 2334 (2016), which was welcomed and supported by the Movement in its CommuniquĂŠ dated December 27, 2016 .

The Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is alarmed and deeply deplores such blatant contempt on the part of Israel, the occupying power, of the Security Council's unequivocal decision in this matter, which reaffirmed that it is clear that Israel's settlement activities have no legal validity and constitute flagrant violations of international law, while calling on Israel to immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem, and to fully respect all its legal obligations, including those under the Fourth Geneva Convention. The Movement also recalls the call of the Security Council to end all acts of violence against civilians, including acts of terror, as well as acts of provocation, incitement and destruction.

4. The Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) reiterates its categorical condemnation of all settlement activities by which Israel, the occupying power, has continued to illegally colonize the occupied Palestinian Territories, including Jerusalem East, through, inter alia, the confiscation of Palestinian land, settlement construction, the wall and other related infrastructures, the imposition of checkpoints, the demolition of homes, and the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians. Such policies and practices are being carried out at unprecedented rates, as reflected in this week's Israeli announcement of plans to move ahead with the construction of more than 3,000 new units in several illegal settlements, leading to the illegal transfer of thousands of Israeli settlers to the occupied territories. These actions constitute serious violations and contradict in their entirety the objective of a peace based on the solution of the two 4

States, based on the pre-1967 borders, and in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions, the Madrid Principle Land for Peace, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Quartet Road Map. 5. The Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) reiterates its call for the complete suspension and reversal of all illegal Israeli policies, practices and measures designed to alter the legal, geographical and demographic status and character of the Territories occupied by Palestinians, including East Jerusalem, and the de facto annexation of Palestinian land. The Movement warns of the dangerous and destructive impact of such measures, which undermined the contiguity and unity of Palestinian land, causing immense difficulties and suffering to the Palestinian civilian population, jeopardizing the prospects of physically achieving a two-state solution , On the basis of pre-1967 borders, and destroying the future viability of the Palestinian state.

6. The Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) reiterates that all such unlawful and unilateral measures by Israel, the occupying power, are null and void, have no legal validity and will not be recognized, including with respect to Jerusalem, and calls upon Member States of the Movement and all States to respect their legal obligations in this regard, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, including resolution 2334 ( 2016) of the Security Council.

7. The Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) calls on the Security Council to maintain its responsibilities, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, and to make the necessary efforts to achieve the implementation of its resolutions. Israel, the occupying power, must be held accountable for its deliberate contempt of the Council and for its systematic and gross violation of international law, including international humanitarian law and international human rights law, in the occupying Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem. In this regard, the Movement reiterates its calls to intensify international efforts aimed at achieving without delay the end of the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 and a just, lasting, comprehensive and peaceful solution, while reiterating its readiness to cooperate and to support all relevant efforts, as it did at the recent Paris International Conference on the Middle East Peace Process on 15 January 2017.

8. The Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) recalls that the 17th Summit of Margarita Island enacted 2017 as the International year to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine. It therefore calls on the Movement's Member States to participate actively in this regard and reaffirms their solidarity and support with the Palestinian people at this critical time. The Movement reiterates its firm support for the realization of its legitimate national aspirations and inalienable rights, including its right to self-determination and freedom in an independent and viable Palestinian State, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as a fair solution to the plight of Palestinian refugees, in accordance with resolution 194 (III), and will continue to support international and regional efforts to achieve these noble objectives.

Venezuelan scientists create a new product to degrade oil waste through a press release from the National Fund for Science, Technology and Research (Fonacit).

With the objective of recovering spaces contaminated by fuels and hydrocarbons as a result of industrial activities, Venezuelan scientists have developed a project that uses vegetal biomass from agro industrial wastes as accelerators in the degradation of petroleum material that help to preserve the environment.

The project called Production of Agro industrial Biomass for the Biotreatment of Wastes with Hydrocarbons consists of the manufacturing of vegetable biomass from waste, cassava, maize, sorghum, soybean, milky, aloe, cane, banana and cambur, cotton, moringa capsules, among others that produce fungi and bacteria capable of accelerating the degradation of toxic material and biodegradable hydrocarbons, reports a newsletter from the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC).

This project led by scientists from the Venezuelan Institute of Petroleum Technology (Intevep), and the Bolivarian University of Venezuela (UBV) is headed by SaĂşl Flores who is the chief researcher.

"We study the chemical properties of the wastes, and then we test them naturally with thermal-chemical treatments." Most of these residues, when heat treatments are performed, increase some of their properties that aid in the biotreatment process, said the researcher

Flores added that after the trial period it was well noted that the moringa and aloe bagasse capsules are the major stimulant in the degradation of hydrocarbons.

"During the test, we added the residues, and it turned out that the moringa capsule and the bagasse of aloe vera increased the biological properties of the soil, and allowed the oil to disappear faster." We found that moringa and bagasse from aloe vera stimulate microorganisms that are on the ground, and help degrade the hydrocarbon.

This project can contribute to the sanitation of contaminated soils and water after designing biofilters with agro industrial material that can absorb metals, especially in water.

"This product is ideal for those industries that work with dyes, textiles, metals, leather, so they can treat their water, and not cause so much pollution," he explained. "We want to scale this idea and build biofilters so people can take decontaminated water." flowers.

Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas

Ajira digital and the Government of Kenya partner to create 1 million jobs for the youth.

With the high internet penetration rate at 85.3 percent, Kenya has started a programme that aims to enable 1 million young people with digital skills to secure employment.

According to a report by Bussiness Report 400,000 Kenyans have been employed through this initiative. The youth have been employed in the transcription services and software development departments on sites such as Amazon’s MTURK and the Kenyan-owned KuHustle platform.

The initiative, Ajira- meaning employment in Swahili is funded by the government in partnership with Ajira digital. The youth will be taxed a minimum of 5 percent form their salaries. The Daily Nation reports that the minister of Information Communications and Technology has committed to 8

building 24 hour innovation hubs with free internet to help make the employment initiative more efficient.

Mentors are sent throughout the country to train and motivate the young people, and there is free Wifi provided for the training programmes as well as online registration. Ajira digital has recruited over a hundred officials from 47 country to help facilitate this programme.

Ajira digital is a portal available to all Kenyans who are willing to work online. The programme has online courses for certificates, support centres and online work available to unemployed youth.
