As a revolutionary, as the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, I repeat together with our eternal Commander what he once said of the great Cuban leader: "You, history-maker, master. I say it without complexes. You are the father of all revolutionaries. You are our father. " We make ours the battle cry that so often voiced his beloved Cuba: "What did Fidel have, that the imperialists could not defeat him?"

FitVen 2016 to attract

investment and receptive tourism

2016 Contreras said that this Fair will include forums to highlight the investment opportunities of the country in this area, in order to encourage trade to strengthen the provision of this service aimed at attracting the strong currencies that the nation's economy needs.

The 11th International Tourism Fair (FitVen), held from the 24th to the 27th November at the hotel Venetur Margarita, 15 countries participated in the Nueva Esparta state, said the Minister for Tourism, Marleny Contreras. In statements to state media, she said that 20 international service providers will also join this event, which seeks the growth of receptive tourism, through the promotion of the historical, cultural and richest heritage of Venezuela as a multi-destination country.

She further said that large hotel chains are interested in developing the first line of action of the Tourism engine that is anchored in infrastructure. "We received more than 800 proposals to improve the sector and create different working tables supported by 100 concrete projects that are feasible and viable."

She highlighted that FitVen features this time a new concept, focused on national and international tourist offers, foreign exchange earnings and job creation, as part of the development of the Tourism Engine of the Bolivarian Economic Agenda. Contreras said that the aim is to ensure that tourism is a vehicle to transform the rentier economic model into a sustainable production model.

The Minister also spoke about the first University of Tourism −located in Anzoategui State − as a further achievement of the management of President Nicolas Maduro to boost the development of the sector. She added that this facility "seeks to strengthen those students who want to work to make their country known to other communities."

"We have been demonstrating the full potential for investment, and we are trying to open the doors for anyone who wants to invest in Venezuela," she said.

UNICEF Awards 13 year old Somali refugee that speaks 6 languages

On the occasion of the International Day of Children’s Rights, UNICEF awarded personalities and organisations in Greece that promote children’s rights as well as schools collaborating in a Greek Education Ministry educational programme promoting the rights of children. Among the award winners is thirteen year old Mohammed, a refugee from Somalia, who speaks six languages and has become the “right hand” of volunteers at the Eleonas ‘hot spot’ since he informally acts as an interpreter. Mohammed managed to learn the foreign languages, by listening to volunteers and other refugees carefully.
