Despite the international powers pressure

VENEZUELA RE-ELECTED MEMBER OF UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL With 131 votes, Venezuela was re-elected Wednesday as a member of the UN Human Rights Council for a second consecutive term. The news was made official by President Nicolas Maduro, who praised the country's diplomatic victory despite the fierce campaign by the U.S. and international right-wing against the Bolivarian government. The overwhelming support of the international community will allow the country to keep its seat for the period 2016-2018, which will begin on January 1, 2016. The country is part of the Geneva-based Council since November 2012, when was elected for the period 2013-2015 with 154 votes in favor. "A victory for the Bolivarian peace diplomacy. Congratulations to Chancellor (Delcy Rodriguez) and Ambassador Rafael Ramirez and all their team. Long live the homeland!" Maduro wrote in his twitter account. This achievement is not a small one. The Venezuelan government has been subject to ferocious attacks by US spokesmen and international media corporations, often putting forward false information about the alleged violation of human rights in Venezuela. In recent weeks the US media fired their usual accusations against Venezuelan officials, this time aimed to Venezuelan ambassador to the UN, Rafael Ramirez, who on Wednesday did not hesitate to describe the re-election of Venezuela as a political and moral triumph.

"Imperialist lies and aggression against the homeland of Bolivar and Chavez, what they do is to give us strength in the world. (We feel) worthy and victorious," said the president in his twitter account @Nicolas Maduro after thanking the broad support of UN member countries. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez also highlighted the fact that the international community rejected "the imperial campaign of lies and slander against Venezuela." "They will not rule the people of Bolivar," said the Foreign Minister, who praised the recognition the peoples of the world made to the policy of respect for human rights in Venezuela. Four days ago, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister had announced the country's decision to bid for re-election as a member to the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2016-2018.

"Although the massive campaign of manipulation, here's the truth of the world. Today sovereign peoples spoke to express overwhelming support for the Venezuelan people," Ramirez told Telesur in Geneva, Switzerland.

"We know that the Venezuelan model is among the few in the world that provides warranty, the protection of human rights in its constitutional system and more than including them in its system we know that the issue of human rights is alive letter in the daily life of Venezuelans," said Rodriguez.

In the same vein, Venezuela's president wrote "the US government made a worldwide campaign against Venezuela in alliance with the right, but was defeated again by the Homeland of Bolivar."

After knowing the decision, the Chancellor wrote in her twitter account: "We appreciate the vote of confidence and recognition that countries gave to us. Venezuela's voice will continue to promote human rights in the world".

Maduro rejects Jhon Kelly’s recent statements against Venezuela

During his weekly TV program on Tuesday night, president Maduro showed a video in which Jhon Kelly, the commander of the United States Southern Command, threatened Venezuela and alleged a moment of implosion on the country’s economy. The Venezuela’s president said that the statements issued by Kelly confirm that “there are alarming signs of the US imperial elite’ desperation”. “The best sign that we are in the right path is the desperation of those who hate Venezuela, (…),” said the president, who assured that “Kelly’s statement shows the US military intention over our country.” According to Maduro, Kelly’s statement also shows that the economic war is organized by international groups that seek to destabilize the country. “¡He lies! said Maduro, “he talks in details about the plan to irritate the Venezuelan family, the woman, to assure that it is an economic disaster of the Revolution. This is an economic war planned against our people,” stressed Maduro. In this sense, Maduro urged the support of Latin America and the Caribbean, “in this struggle for the peace and the independence of the Venezuelan people, against the US imperial plans.” www.hoyvenezuela.info

“ This is achieved through revolution.”

10 years ago Venezuela was declared free of illiteracy

"In being declared a territory free of illiteracy, Venezuela is making its most significant contribution to our shared goal towards education for all. The achievements of the Mission Robinson could not have been possible without the political will and top level support and for in that regard President Hugo Chavez deserves warm congratulations," UNESCO said in a statement by the time. In his book "The Seven Sins of Hugo Chavez," Belgian journalist and author Michel Collon says that in 1999, when the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution Hugo Chavez took office, 1.5 million out of 22 million Venezuelans (number of inhabitants for 2005, according to the National Statistics Institute), were illiterate and another 2 million had not finished elementary school. In order to educate these Venezuelans, Commander Hugo Chavez put in place the educational project, which made possible the distribution of 1.9 million books on various topics.

Caracas, 28 Oct. AVN.- Wednesday marks 10 years since the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) congratulated the Venezuelan people and then-President Hugo Chavez for their outstanding efforts in making the country free of illiteracy, which affected 1.5 million people. In the message, UNESCO recognized that Mission Robinson –the first educational mission created in Venezuela– was instrumental to teach to read and write these citizens, mostly seniors who until then had not had access to a free public education. Mission Robinson was born in 2003 through social program "Yo Si Puedo" or I Can Do It, to teach how to read and write those who had been excluded from the national educational system for years.

But the project did not end there, new programs emerged with the thrust of Mission Robinson, such as Mission Robinson II, meant to encourage the people to start elementary school. Then mission was followed by Mission Ribas, to complete high school; and Sucre, for college. Venezuelan people educational achievement –which has served as an example to other peoples of Latin American and the Caribbean region– was previously achieved by Cuba, a country that inspired this educational mission, which owes its name to Simon Rodriguez, Liberator Simon Bolivar's teacher, and whose thinking remains valid in Venezuela's educative program. While being in exile Rodriguez changed his name to Samuel Robinson. www.avn.info.ve

Robinson's success, since it reached isolated communities nationwide, allowed Venezuela to be declared territory free of illiteracy by UNESCO on October 28th, 2005.
