BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA

Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Afairs Communiqué The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, representing the most genuine feeling of sympathy of the Venezuelan people, expresses his strongest condemnation of the attacks on November 13th, 2015, in the French Republic, which have left more than a hundred people dead, many other victims injured and the world hurt and shocked by such a vile massacre. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela deeply accompanies the pain felt by the families and friends of the victims of such regrettable events, in solidarity with the people and the French Government and hopes for the speedy recovery of the injured. President Maduro:

You need to be proud of being sons and daughters of Mother Africa You need to feel proud of being sons and daughters of Mother Africa, said President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro in Curiepe in the municipality of Brion of Miranda state, when he inaugurated the Pablo Rada Cultural Complex. "People do not know that this skin color are 500 years of struggle, there was something here that was the African holocaust, do not forget that, the drum did not fall from the sky, it crossed the Atlantic with shackled feet and hands, so was its rising." In this regard, the president said that it is necessary to consolidate the new leadership emerging from the Revolution before the colonialist intentions of the right that do not seem to realize that this country changed and cannot kneel before the imperial interests of the United States, following a capitalist, neoliberal model that despises the people. In relation to the recent rains in Barlovento, the Head of State ordered Corpomiranda to immediately attend to the victims. "We have given instructions to Corpomiranda and all agencies to immediately attend to those who have lost their belongings, Elias [Jaua] always brings information, everything that happens in Miranda, in Barlovento, in Charallave, in Los Teques, in Petare, from wherever, from end to end, Elias is tireless, a great companion, loyal to Hugo Chavez, always brings proposals, if necessary for the health, public works, " he said.

Finally, President Maduro stressed that despite the economic war promoted by the right, in Venezuela "no pupil in this country has missed their primary school, high school, university; and nobody has lacked their work because we have maintained the level of employment and we will increase job creation; We have made four wage increases and now have three million pensioners through the Bolivarian Socialism," he said. Somalia reclaims its place in the World of Literature as Mogadishu Book Fair comes to an end

In his book “First Footsteps in East Africa”, 19th Century British explorer wrote extensively about Somalis and their love for literature, particularly poetry. “The country teems with poets… every man has his recognized position in literature as accurately defined as though he had been reviewed in a century of magazines – the fine ear of this people causing them to take the greatest pleasure in harmonious sounds and poetic expressions … Every chief in the country must have a panegyric to be sung by his clan, and the great patronize light literature by keeping a poet.” True to his words, Mogadishu is once again at the centre of international attention; this time not about a deadly Al Shabab attack or a political fall-out, but a book fair—The Mogadishu Book Fair. In other words, the convergence of best Somali minds in literature under one roof. “We are holding this (Mogadishu Book) fair to revive the culture of writing and reading in our country,” Mohamed Diini, the event organizer, said. Adding that he aims to

connect local writers with their counterparts from abroad in order to exchange ideas. The three-day event has attracted over 3000 people, mostly students and book-lovers. The president of the Federal Government Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also visited the venue of the event on its second day at City Plus Hotel in Mogadishu where he bought four books. He welcomed the ideas and said he would support the initiative next year. The festival involved book launches, poetry readings, films, art and photo exhibitions. Mohamed Dini said the event has offered local talents an opportunity to showcase their talents. “We have a 16 year old who wrote three books. This event propelled him to great heights because he could show the world his works,” he said. By: Ahmed Abdirashid Haji www.somalicurrent.com
