THE ELEGANCE OF THE BLACK SWAN L’ELEGANZA DEL CIGNO NERO In 2016 Venice Design Week started to work with “Polo Museale del Veneto” and has developed an exhibition site specific for the first floor of the Museum of Palazzo Grimani: The Elegance of the Black Swan. The exhibition highlights the topic of diversity that is astonishing. To explain the concept, think of being on the border of a lake with many white swans and suddenly you see a black swan lift off from the water: you are pleasantly surprised! The exhibition includes home accessories, table decor items, and special items that amaze the viewers with their elegance. The selection is edited by Lisa Balasso in cooperation with the curator of the Museum Alberta Facchi and the architect Giulia Passante, working together to associate contemporary design in an ancient luxury environment.

This year we celebrate a new contest called Wearable Technologies. Starting with its displays in the Fashion Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo, Wearable Technologies will be one of the main themes for discussions during the meetings on 1st October 2016.

the future of the visions of design. Design enthusiast can find new brands, focused on style or other brands that are trying to overcome new challenges in the interaction of the everyday-life objects. Many young designers have opportunities not only to obtain visibility but also to join workshops and have experience with new approaches or new materials. Design Brands present their research, encounter with new incoming products and preparation for future proposals. The Design Week is a time for meeting in a special atmosphere where the pleasure of beauty is the topic while cocktails are sipped. Plan your VDW in October and choose from the various events, conferences, workshops and meetings with the designers, and critics you will want to attend.
