Seven years later, his Alberta based technology company, is ready to launch the Absolute Extreme BurnerTM . Darsell developed the technology with three key considerations in mind: efficiency, reliability and safety. The Absolute Extreme BurnerTM achieves 100 per cent combustion, with a solid blue flame that is a maximum of eight inches in length. It has the appearance of a flameless burner due to the fact that the flame can only be seen when you look down the barrel of the combustion chamber. Darsell says, “The ACI team has developed a novel combustion flow pattern combined with an Exhaust Velocity HarmonicTM, which maximizes efficiency by allowing more control over where and when heat is applied. This generates high levels of heat in a dramatically different way than conventional gas burning heaters, which results in incredibly high thermal transfer efficiency.” Highly adaptable to existing platforms, The Absolute Extreme BurnerTM system is designed with the ability to be retrofitted without compromising function or reliability. The flame is inherently stable, with immunity to variations in elevation and atmospheric pressure. All additional components are consumer-off-the-shelf (COTS) CSA approved, ensuring minimum downtime due to maintenance or repair. According to Koleya Karringten, Executive Vice President, “Our burner operates with minimal need for operator oversight, with unprecedented safety due to virtually no blowback. With an operating gas pressure between 2 and 4 psi, workplace safety is dramatically increased.“ A prudent design decision to meet CSA Standard B149.3-10 from the start, has allowed the company to come out ahead of the pack when it comes to meeting the new safety code changes for gas fired
devices which take effect in January 2015. While competitors’ burners will need to be upgraded, Absolute Combustion will ship its burner retrofit ready and in compliance with new safety standards. Absolute Combustion International Inc. has developed a platform technology with multiple energy sector applications.
