Walls PROJECT TYPE _ SOLO

I was given with a 16 x 16 x 2 meters platform with 16 six meters columns. The challange was to create spaces by placing flat walls.

4

PLAN OBLIQUE

A pettern logic was developed and was applied vertically. The treatment of the pattern is similar to a chess board, which establishes the soild and voids. Together with the wrapping walls, this design blurs the perception of space creating spaces that belong to more than one place.

Floors PROJECT TYPE _ SOLO

I was given a 8 x 16 x 4 meters platform with 21 twelve meters columns. The challange was to create spaces vertically by placing flat plates.

14

PLAN OBLIQUE This design challanges the traditional vertical circulation movement method. Here, instead of creating designated space for staris/ramps, the whole building serves as one big staricase. Each plate is 31cm higher or lower than the previous plate. The result is a continius space.

Volumes PROJECT TYPE _ SOLO

I was given a 16 x 16 x 12 volume. I chose to give it 25 columns. The challange was to create a library extention for The University of Toronto, next to the Gold Ring.

22

PLAN OBLIQUE

The idea from project ‘Floors’ is appied here. A program was given, to acomodate students and their study needs at an unofficial moment. Here the floors are the sitting area, the desks, and stairs all at once.

In this diagram, vertical and horizontal movement is represented. Solid line signifies the main path one can take from to reach to the top. The dashed lines with circles signify the dead ends. This space gives a wide spectrum of private/public varietions.

Parts PROJECT TYPE _ SOLO

In this project, 8 pieces from a construction toy kit were chosen. Width is in common among all parts.

32

PERSPECTIVE RENDER

There are 3 different modes of stairs combined together creating one large structure. The direction I took this project was experimentation and exploration with an emphesis on representation of the project.
