The Secrets to Preventing Hair Breakage
HAIR BREAKAGE What ever your hair type may be, thick or thin, curly or straight, breakage can easily happen without the proper care and know-how. At one point in your life you have probably noticed an uncontrollable frizz or the end of your hair splitting into two. Breakage in hair is an incredibly common issue that almost everyone encounters. Below we have outlined our secrets for keeping your hair healthy and beautiful.
Exchange Your Hair Brush For a WideTooth Comb
When we get our hair wet we can usually expect a few tangles and knots. But before you attack your tangles, put the hair brush down. Wet hair breaks the easiest when it’s wet. Using a brush can do a lot more damage than what you may think. To untangle use a wide-tooth comb to comb through your damp hair. If you are having issue with a tangle, use a little bit of extra conditioner.
Use a Heat Protectant Spray
If you are using heated styling tools on a daily basis, you need to use a heat protectant spray. Wether you are using a hair dryer, curling wand, or straightener, you need to apply heat protectant spray from the top of your roots to the end of your hair. Try putting your heated tools on low to medium heat to avoid frying your hair.
Don’t Use a Towel
After you step out of the shower, it may be tempting to reach for your towel to dry your hair. Go against your instinct! Instead reach for an old cotton t-shirt. Towels can be pretty rough on your hair, a cotton t-shirt will do the job and soak up excess water while remaining gentle.
Swap Out Your Pillowcase For a Silk One
Sleeping on a pillowcase made out of silk will prevent wild bed head. Your hair will remain soft and smooth by the time morning rolls around. An alternative to a silk pillow case is a silk head scarf that you can wrap your hair in.
