OBGYN
We believe pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood are life-changing experiences.
We strive to empower women as they go through these times so they can make informed choices that best meet their personal needs and the needs of their family. Our mission is to help women have the birth they would like to have. For some women, this means epidural anesthesia and for some women, this means natural childbirth. We are here to educate you about options before labor, and during labor, we will help to make sure your needs are met to the best of our ability. We believe labor progresses more smoothly if we just allow things to happen naturally while maintaining the health and safety of baby and mom.
We offer: Individualized antenatal care according to nationally accepted guidelines for physicians and midwives Nutritional counseling Movement and exercise counseling Hydrotherapy and water births Labor support Integrative medicine approaches such as chiropractic, massage, acupuncture Non-invasive alternatives in labor Postpartum Support, including Lactation counseling by our own Kristen Werner and Linda Campbell Additional Lactation services with Sally MacFadyen and the Fourth Trimester

Doulas
The word “doula”
comes from the ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves” and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced nonmedical professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the birthing person and their partner or family before, during, and just after birth; and/or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period. *Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.

POSTPARTUM SUPPORT
A Speciality Physical Therapy Practice
PREGNANCY/POSTPARTUM During pregnancy (prenatal) it is not uncommon to experience low back pain, pelvic girdle or tailbone pain, urinary incontinence, tingling in arms or hands and swelling of hands and feet. These symptoms are a response to changes in posture, hormone levels, blood volume, and stretched muscles. A Pelvic Health physical therapist can treat any pregnancy-related symptoms with education, manual “hands-on” treatment, and a customized home exercise program.
PELVIC PAIN Pelvic pain diagnoses that generally present with a concurrent pelvic floor dysfunction and that will benefit from physical therapy including the following:
• Vulvodynia/Vestibulodynia • Interstitial Cystitis (painful bladder syndrome) • Dyspareunia/Vaginismus • Coccydynia
• Endometriosis • Constipation • Pelvic Girdle Pain • Sacro-Iliac Joint Dysfunction
INCONTINECE Urinary and fecal incontinence is experienced by up to 60% of women in this country, but only 3050% seek help. Often times women see incontinence as an unavoidable consequence of childbirth or just part of the aging process. Fortunately, this is not true. Through the skilled treatment provided by a Pelvic Health physical therapist, you will be able to regain control and return to the healthy lifestyle you enjoy.
PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE Postpartum pelvic organ prolapse (POP) occurs when an organ, ie bladder, uterus or rectum have dropped from their normal position in the pelvis. Symptoms of a pelvic prolapse can include pelvic pressure/heaviness, a feeling like “something is falling out”, lower backache, constipation, and bladder and bowel dysfunction. Don't suffer in silence - Pelvic Health Therapists are here for you!

POSTPARTUM SUPPORT
While many women may feel depressed after having a baby, the most common symptoms that women will feel are anxiety and a sense of being overwhelmed. Too many women don’t reach out for help because they assume that since they aren’t depressed, they must not have PPD.
Symptoms of PPD and other Perinatal Mood Disorders include: Feelings of helplessness and/or hopelessness Isolation and withdrawal from community and loved ones Frequent feelings of “I can’t do this” Intrusive thoughts, images, fears of harm coming to your baby that you can not stop and that you know are wrong Irritability, impatience, rage Difficulty concentrating Difficulty attaching and bonding to your baby In the most serious cases, seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not really there and/ or beliefs that are not based in reality
