28 Always Clean From Top to Bottom – When you start cleaning from the top of the room, whether it is the fan or the highest shelves or cabinets you are doing yourself a favor. The dust will fall to the floor where you can pick it up with a vacuum rather than having to continuously redo the floors while cleaning. 1

Dust Your Ceiling Fan With A Pillow Case – While you are up there cleaning the tops of cabinets or shelves, you do not want to forget your ceiling fan. Keeping your fan clean can be an annoyance, but it a clean fan helps minimize the spread of dust and grime around the room. I When you keep your fan dustfree, it can also help with indoor allergies. One of the best tips we’ve read is to use a pillowcase to dust! Place the pillowcase all the way over the blades of the fan and then pull towards you. Most of the dust should fall directly into the pillowcase leaving you less to clean up on the floor.

Remove Stains With the Power of The Sun – Harsh chemicals can be so abrasive and sometimes they aren’t even strong enough to clear the toughest of stains. For example, on your reusable plastic containers food like tomato sauce can often leave behind a colored stain. Place in the sun to lighten the discoloration. This also works especially well with stained baby and kid clothes. Once they are washed, set them out to dry in the sun. Like magic the stains will disappear.

Remove Pet Hair From Furniture with a Glove – We all love our fur babies, but some shed much more than others. A strong pet vac can help keep up with the hair on the ground, but swipe a damp rubber glove across your sofa and you will be pleasantly surprised to see the hair come up easily. It is a quick and easy fix. 4

Don’t Forget Your Magic Eraser – When I was in high school, I had fresh white adidas shoes. I did my best to keep them absolutely flawless, but it was hard because I wore them to school every day. My mom supplied me with magic erasers to help keep my shoes clean and fresh. Today, I still use my magic erasers for most household cleaning projects especially when scrubbing the bathtub. 5

Keep Your Laundry Smelling Fresh – Clothes that had been left in the laundry bin or in the washer may develop a mildew odor. The easiest way to keep them fresh is to throw in a cup of white vinegar when you wash or rewash to neutralize the smells. You can then run the load one more time with detergent to ensure a fresh-smelling load of wash. 6
