Letter from the Editor What does minimalism mean to you? There is a sense of freedom that comes with being able to bring fashion, words, and photography back to the basics. Conversely, the act also presents a challenge. After all, just as stories are embellished with pretty adjectives, the fashion world loves to push the envelope with extravagant garments, heavier makeup, and more flash. So what happens when we dare you to take all that away? This month, our team asked you to bare your soul by showing us your artwork in its purest form, and we were thrilled to see that all of our contributors stepped up to the challenge! The editors greatly enjoyed the unique takes on this theme— from hundred-word stories to fashion and makeup editorials that celebrated the “less is more” philosophy. In this month’s offering, spread across two issues, you’ll find simple designs, fresh faces, and creative takes on the minimalist movement. We also have a lovely feature with actress Daniella Alonso. In perfect unity with this month’s theme, she leaves behind the glitz and glam of Hollywood and shows us a fresh and relatable journey of an actress. Next month, we invite you to travel the world with us in our “Lost & Found” issue. August brings about four years of VEUX Magazine—and we’re partying with an open theme and a cover contest. Everyday they eat dinner in front of the TV, watching the nature channel. The boy asks, eyes bright full of wonder as they watch, “Why don’t we have shells like turtles?” His father looks at him, thinking about the last year without his wife. Thinking about the hours and days he’s spent without her in their house. Staring at her things as they collect dust week after week. The day she died, she looked so beautiful when she left, the way the light hit her face. She took his breath away. Hand over chest. “We do… they are just invisible.”

Unplug Debate Part 2 “Just do it. Turn it off. I promise you won’t miss anything that can’t wait.” she goads. Nervously, he is biting his nails and running his hand through his beard. “I can’t! What if…” He blanks out. “See it’s happening already. You need a break from it all. It’s ok.” She puts her arm around his. He jumps at her touch. “I…I don’t think I can do it.” The pressure is just too much. Sweet Spot

Under the covers the world seems to stop. The sweetness of rest, the tension from the day leaves for the night and all that is left to do is to have delicious, wonderful sleep. My dreams take me to another world. Escaping from the biting cold and wind just outside.

I want nothing more than to strip off these clothes - starting at the door, a piece of clothing lands on the floor. Like a trail of crumbs you follow them to my sweet spot, my head nuzzled comfortably on my pillow. Youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re an acceptable disruption to this bliss. Be grateful.
