Science Specialization in Natural Resources Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree

This degree is intended for those who wish to further skills and knowledge in natural resource management through the fields of horticulture and agriculture. It is designed for transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field. This program is eligible for an articulation agreement for guaranteed admission to Virginia Tech.

Program Length 2 years (4 semesters)

Transfer Objectives Horticulture, agriculture, environmental science and studies, soils, botany, and natural resource management.

Tuition & Fees At only $162.11 per credit hour, you’ll save $10K to $22K, in tuition costs alone, by starting at VHCC! Out-of-state students living within a 30-mile radius qualify for in-state tuition.

A native of Southwest Virginia, Ben Casteel brings a passion for the land and culture of Appalachia to the program. With degrees in Agriculture and Horticulture from Virginia Tech, Prescott College, and Virginia Highlands, Ben is well versed in the knowledge and skills of the green industries.
