Associate of Applied Science Degree

Can you see yourself working with plants for a living? Do you have the self-discipline it takes to run your own business? This program is designed to develop horticultural knowledge with an emphasis on owning and operating a business. Successful students will earn industry-recognized credentials and develop business plans through the program.

Program Length 2 years (4 semesters) Transfer Objectives Horticulture, agriculture,

environmental science and studies, soils, botany, and natural resource management.

Is this degree for you? Yes! If you would like to own and operate a horticulture business and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Tuition & Fees At only $162.11 per credit hour, you’ll

save $10K to $22K, in tuition costs alone, by starting at VHCC! Out-of-state students living within a 30-mile radius qualify for in-state tuition.

As a business owner, Ben Casteel developed a passion for helping others to make their green business dreams reality. With degrees in agriculture and horticulture from Virginia Tech, Prescott College, and Virginia Highlands, Ben is well versed in the knowledge and skills of the green industries.
