Nurse Aide Career Studies Certificate
Becoming a nurse aide is a wonderful career for compassionate individuals who find it personally rewarding to care for and help people. While the job is often demanding, the opportunity to provide direct, person-to-person care is high and nurse aides enjoy the opportunity of developing close relationships with patients. The program at Virginia Highlands is designed to prepare students to sit for the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license. Additionally, students have the opportunity to sit for the Pharmacy Tech certification.

G3 Eligible This program is G3 eligible. G3 Scholarships cover tuition and fees for Virginia residents of modest income who are pursuing high demand careers.
Tuition & Fees At only $162.11 per credit hour, you’ll save $10K to $22K, in tuition costs alone, by starting at VHCC! Out-of-state students living within a 30-mile radius qualify for in-state tuition.
Toby Cook has more than 50 years of experience in nursing with a Bachelor of Arts from Bluefield State College and a Master’s in Education from Virginia Tech. She has taught at Virginia Highlands for more than 40 years.

*There are two options for training to become a CNA at Virginia Highlands. In addition to the traditional route of enrolling in our two-semester program, we also have a one semester program available via our Workforce Development division. A VHCC academic advisor will be happy to help you determine the best route for your personal goals.
