3. WATER PUMP AND SEAL LUBRICATION Northern Liquid Ice lubricates and protects water pump bearings and seals with an advanced moly/conditioning product (Water Moly).

4. BOILING POINT ELEVATION PREVENTS BOILOVER AND COOLANT LOSS Northern Liquid Ice does not significantly increase the boiling point of water (but)…… INCREASING COOLANT SYSTEM PRESSURE RAISES THE BOILING POINT The boiling point of water treated with Northern Liquid Ice using a 15 psi cap is 250°F compared to 265°F at 15 psi for 50% glycol. Increasing coolant system pressure by 50% to 23 psi will raise the boiling point of water and Liquid Ice to 265°F.

5. FROST POINT DEPRESSION Northern Liquid Ice is not an anti-freeze product and does not reduce the freezing point of water.

6. ENERGY (HP) = HEAT GENERATION (BTU) The modern gasoline engines are fairly efficient power-plants. However: THE MORE ENERGY YOU CREATE (HP) THE MORE HEAT (BTU) WHICH NEEDS TO BE DISPERSED. Our point: in a High Performance engine you will make more heat and stress your cooling system. Push it to far and your coolant temps go out of control and could result in engine failure. Liquid Ice is proven to reduce cooling system temps.

7. ENERGY=BTU (HEAT) = OCTANE REQUIRED It’s known that an increase in combustion chamber temperature raises the coolant temperature. But what is not as apparent is the higher the combustion chamber temperature, the higher the octane number of the engine fuel which is required to prevent preignition and detonation. So if you reduce the coolant temp, with Liquid Ice you reduce the danger of detonation from pre-ignition.

8. HEAT TRANSFER vs COOLANT FLOW Inside the engines coolant passages, even under severe load, most surfaces are below the boiling point. But some “Hot Spots” or localized boiling areas occur. These “Hot Spots” create boiling coolant that releases bubbles which are naturally attracted to metal surfaces. Unfortunately these bubbles inhibit the process of heat transfer. Liquid Ice improves the ability to capture and collapses these bubbles. Reduce coolant foam and improve heat transfer. The result is decreased coolant temps.

9. ALUMINUM CORROSION PROTECTION Aluminum engine and cooling system components have natural electrical properties that have a high corrosion potential. Aluminum is such an electro-active metal that it requires an zinc corrosion inhibitor film to prevent rapid corrosion. Liquid Ice adds a zinc corrosion coating which enables aluminum to be protected within a cooling system. Modern automotive engines use aluminum for heads, radiators, and water pump housings. These components require significantly greater zinc corrosion protection than their previous counterparts.

10. ELECTROLYSIS PROTECTION Electrolysis damage of the cooling system is a result of the coolant acting as a “wire” to transfer electrical energy back to the battery’s negative terminal on a vehicle. The Electrolysis process changes water from H2 O to Oxygen O2 and Hydrogen H2, and unfortunately the free Hydrogen H2 turns the coolant acidic. Acidic water transfers more electrical energy and the increased electrical energy along with the increased acidity etches or eats away at the cooling system and engine metal parts. Left unchecked this process may destroy aluminum cylinder heads and cooling components. Late model production vehicles also have this problem, but a quick look under the hood will reveal dozens of ground straps and a sophisticated wiring system along with special engine coolants to combat this process. Unfortunately most race engines using water as the coolant have high powered, but simple electrical systems with little or no electrolysis protection. Liquid Ice adds a powerful PH additive to control the decomposition of water and prevent increased acidity. Remember electrolysis protection needs to be there 24/7, not just when the engine is running.

11. INCREASE ENGINE LIFE It is an accepted premise that High Performance Engines which operate in excess of 160º may have engine component life increase by 25% for each 18ºF reduction in engine temperature toward a 160º goal.

12. ALWAYS USE LIQUID ICE AS DIRECTED One concentrate 16 ounce bottle treats 12-16 quarts or (2-3 Gallon System) either straight with 7.0 pH Neutral Purified Water or 50/50 water with 50% glycol solution. ** Unlike other brands of cooling system products we do not recommend doubling the application of Liquid Ice **

NOTE: Always use Liquid Ice with 7.0 pH Neutral Purified Water or with a mix of glycol anti-freeze coolant. 50/50 with water. Northern Factory Sales, Inc. 2701 4th Avenue SW • Willmar, MN 56201 • (320) 235-2288 • www.northernfactory.com OS14008
