The stadium has a land area of 40,076 m² and a building area of 17,756 m². One of the design issues is maintaining heritage buildings with a modern twist.

ISSUE

The building must be able to provide a modern and iconic shape while maintaining the authenticity of heritage buildings.

PROJECT BACKGROUND In 2018, Indonesia was appointed as host of ASIAN Games XVIII. To welcome the event, the President of the Republic of Indonesia appointed Ministry of Public Works and People’s Housing to build and renovate 14 venues as a package of development and renovation and arrangement of the area in Gelora Bung Karno.

The swimming pool size must follow FINA Standards requirements. As an international stadium, there are facilities need to be improved.

Senayan Aquatic Stadium is one of the sports arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Complex. This aquatic stadium serves as an arena of athletes training and the place of the national and international game. Along the times, there are changes to the standards and regulations in the sport pool, one of them on the standard of swimming stadium facilities. This resulted in the Senayan Aquatic Stadium becoming unfit to hold any championship. This stadium also need a roof covering that extends along 86 m to maintain water temperature (280C). It need a long span structure that accentuate the value of the building.

02 MERDEKA TOWN SQUARE Academic Project 2016 Typology : Mixed-Use Location : Jalan Merdeka, Bandung Area : 1 Ha Supervisor : Bambang Setia Budi, ST, MT, PhD Taken place in the city center, the main objective to this project is to design a mixed-use building with regard to pedestrian permeability. The project consist of two apartment towers and retails in the podium. The project emphasize on how the building maintain its relationship with urban environment. Permeability becomes the core issue of the project.

16

SITE CONDITION This site located in a city center. This site is also located between two main roads with dense traffic, Jalan Merdeka and Jalan Punawarman. The site size is about 10.459 m2 with maximum buildable area about 33.377 m2. Bandung Electronic Center

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The quality of permeability can play a big role in creating a more responsive place to the user. Mixed function buildings provide an opportunity for a municipal plot to allow for permeability, especially for pedestrians that are urgently needed in downtown movements.

The current city development, especially the more capital intensive, produces plots either derived from new land acquisitions or development some of the existing city plots. Without adequate urban design guidance, the construction of such cities resulted in massive city block and diminishing the connectivity of city movements especially pedestrians. Therefore, a city block, especially in the city center that tend to be more massive and high levels of density, should have a high level in permeability especially for pedestrians.

03 GEDE BAGE SOCIAL HOUSING Academic Project 2016 Typology : Residential Location : Jalan Gede Bage, Bandung Area : 6300 sqm Supervisor : Bambang Setia Budi, ST, MT, PhD Due to the high price of land and the occurrence of sprawling earlier, the provision of shelters often jump directly to high-rise buildings, whereas the provision of residential density buildings and moderate elevation is also needed, especially in the suburbs where land prices are still relatively lower than the city center. This project objestive is to understand housing issues, especially those related to density and medium-height dwelling and how to develop a typology that matches the character of this dwelling.

24

SITE CONDITION The site is about 6300 sqm. There’s a high density housing around the site. The railway is right in front of the site. Jalan Soekarno-Hatta is a busy traffic as it’s an arterial road in Bandung. It connecting the Jalan Gedebage to the Bandung City Center.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Housing Area Container Terminal

More than 60% of urban land area is used for residential functions, either in the form of horizontal or vertical dwelling. The discourse associated with housing and the city today is the occurrence of sprawling phenomena where housing that houses land-dwelling and low-density develops randomly in the suburbs.

GE

BA

AY ILW RA

In the long term such developments will create a great burden for the provision of municipal infrastructure. In addition, the development of such housing will have an impact on the decreasing urban green open space and reduced productive agricultural lands. The city of Bandung is currently experiencing also developments like this. Therefore, this project is trying to introduce medium and high density dwellings as part of addressing the above urban issues.

FACADE IDEA

Social housing inhabitants have a tedency to use balcony as a hanger place where they can drying anything (ex: clothes, pillow, even a bed) and it visually chaotic. This gives me idea to design a space for the occupants to dry but outsider can’t see through it.

Building’s facade designed using a modern ventilation bloks at the balcony of the house. The balcony functioned as a dryer place and also used a natural air conditioning.

04 INTERNSHIP WORKS During my three-months internship at CPG Consultants in Singapore, I have learnt about urban design principles as applied to design practice. I have also learnt about the role of research as conceptual generator. In the office, research is mostly focused on market, case and cultural factors that influence the urban forms. Among the tasks given, I have done 3D modelling studies, drafting, market studies and analysis. I also included in workshops and discussions with team.

32

I have assisted with conceptual design, where I focused especially on the two community developments and green and blue connections. Through this exercise, I have learnt about the configuration of the communities within the hierarchy of the urban fabric in planning. Also, the importance to generate the potentials on site.

I have also assisted with drafting, 3D modelling, and research where I focused especially on the mixed use development area. Through this exercise, I have learnt about the importance of market and case studies in planning to reach design goals. Also, I have learnt to design a fibrant waterfront within the commercial areas.

Rice is one of the most common food commodity produced and consumed by people all around the world. On the other hand, food shortage is one of the most impending problems that humanity has to face in the future, in the light of limited amount of land and the ever-growing world population.

High population density in urban areas translates into high food demand at the area, where it is also the farthest from plantation areas in general, requiring a transportation and distribution system. This is further worsened by the droughts and heavy rainstorms that often occur in Indonesia, causing crop failure. In response to this problem, a Low-Energy Paddy Vertical Farming system has been designed to serve as a solution to the problems stated above.

DESIGN ANALYSIS PADDY PRODUCTION Total Estimated Crop Production 2 4 x 20 tons/ha x 11601.03m = 93.18 tons/year 2 9960.04m /ha

To produce rice, the crop would need to be dried and in doing so reducing the mass to about 70% of its original mass.

Total Estimated Rice Production 65.226 tons/year

ENERGY CONSUMPTION

LOCAL ISSUE: DKI JAKARTA consumes 2000 tons of rice per day. Most of Jakarta’s rice supply coming from West Java. But West Java is currently facing a problem themselves. Function shift from farming areas to non-farming areas reach 80000 hectare per year or 220 hectare per day. When the farming area in west java decreases and Jakarta’s rice need increases as the population grows every year, it would be hard for Jakarta to fulfill its rice demands.

algorithmic studio design The idea is to design a lamp using computational techniques in rhinoceros and grasshopper. This lamp is a parametric model with some parameters that can be changed and produce different shape of the object. The parameters that can be modified include the radius and the distance between the circles into the frameworks of the lamp.
