Whether you’re participating as a Bay Area resident or visiting from abroad, you’re sure to have a wonderful week with us as we Color Our World With Pride. SF Pride Members chose the above theme late last summer and our dedicated Board of Directors has been working diligently to reflect the theme in our social mission: “… to educate the world, commemorate our heritage, celebrate our culture, and liberate our people.” While our award-winning and diverse Celebration is one of the largest LGBT events in the world, it’s also a platform to support LGBT people globally who, in the last year, have faced some of the most archaic and discriminatory, state-sanctioned laws in our history. Anti-LGBT legislation spurring mob violence from Uganda, Nigeria, and Cameroon, to India, Russia and the Middle East are a call to action to expose hate and its source. Often that source is in our own backyard, as is the case with the public’s choice for this year’s Pink Brick Award, Scott Lively. As president of California–based Abiding Truth Ministries, a conservative Christian organization, his tentacles reach from Latvia to Kampala in stirring anti-LGBT sentiment and laws. On a brighter note, this year’s community grand marshals, honorees, and main stage speakers represent a culturally rich fabric of pioneers, activists, artists, educators, and freedom fighters. From a 16-year-old transgender student who was bullied and chose to fight back to a seasoned LGBT activist championing housing as a human right, these leaders inspire us to get involved. The public’s choice of Trans March as the Organizational Grand Marshal reflects a positive trend to elevate advocacy for the most discriminated among us. Our two-day Celebration at Civic Center features 20+ community-run stages and venues, along with 300 exhibitor booths. LGBT Pride Welcome and best wishes to those gathered for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Celebrations throughout California this summer. Last June, in Hollingsworth v. Perry and United States v. Windsor, the United States Supreme Court made decisions upholding the findings of lower courts that state and federal laws limiting the marriage rights of LGBT Americans are unconstitutional. The outcomes of these important cases, which effectively legalized same-sex marriage in California and many other states, represent the progress our society has made in extending the full rights of citizenship to all Americans. Pride brings together the LGBT community and allies in the spirit of solidarity and demonstrates to the world that the rich diversity of the Golden State is the source of our greatest strengths. CALIFORNIA ASSEMBLYMEMBER I’m excited to look back and see the progress we continue to make. One year after the U.S. Supreme Court rulings, we see more and more states recognize marriage equality. My bill to bolster the rights of transgender students became law shortly after the last Pride Day, and the law went into effect this year, guaranteeing transgender kids the protections they deserve to have in school. Make no mistake, there’s a lot of work to do still to make sure all our brothers and sisters are treated equally, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, immigration status, religion, economic standing, housing status or disability. Each step forward in our parade should represent a step forward for LGBT people everywhere – and for people who face discrimination for any reason. We should have pride in who we are and what we’ve accomplished. Onward and outward!

Roberta (Robbie) Kaplan, a partner in the Litigation Department of Paul, Weiss LLP, has been described as a “powerhouse corporate litigator” and “pressure junkie” who “thrives on looking at the big picture” whether “in the gay-marriage legal fight or highCELEBRITY GRAND MARSHAL profile corporate scandals.” Robbie has been selected as one of ”The 100 Most Influential Lawyers,” one of “The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 under 40” lawyers in the United States, as well as a “Litigator of the Year” by The American Lawyer; and “Lawyer of the Year” by Above the Law. Robbie was also chosen by Out Magazine as part of their 2014 list of “The Power 50.”

Robbie successfully argued the case of her client Edie Windsor before the United States Supreme Court. In its landmark decision in United States v. Windsor, the Supreme Court ruled that a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) violated equal protection principles of the United States Constitution because the status of being a married gay person is “a far-reaching legal acknowledgment of the intimate relationship between two people, a relationship deemed … worthy of dignity in the community equal with all other marriages.” The consequences of the Windsor decision have been both rapid and profound. When the Windsor case was filed in 2010, only five states permitted gay couples to marry. Today, 19 states do and more are surely on the way since nearly every day, there is yet another federal or state court decision (25 in total) from judges in places as far apart in geography and culture as Ohio and Utah, New Jersey and Oklahoma, or Oregon and Arkansas explicitly relying on Windsor to extend equal rights to gay people. So far, there’s not a single post-Windsor case that goes the other way. Robbie’s representation of Edie Windsor was chronicled by Ariel Levy in her piece in the September 30, 2013 issue of The New Yorker entitled “A Perfect Wife.” Robbie is also featured in a recent video documentary by MAKERS that can be found at makers.com/robertakaplan. But Robbie is perhaps most proud of the fact that a character was named after her in Terrence McNally’s current, Tony-nominated Broadway play, Mothers and Sons.

CELEBRITY GRAND MARSHAL Since 2001, Ross Mathews has traveled the world and established himself as one of the most in-demand television personalities and entertainment correspondents in popculture. Endearing and witty, undeniably funny, Mathews has won the hearts of millions of Americans since his television debut as a correspondent for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Mathews can currently be seen hosting the smash hit, talk show Hello Ross, the weekly fan destination where the intersections of celebrity gossip and pop culture collide, giving a unique viewpoint into the latest Hollywood news. In 2013, Mathews released his first book, Man Up: Tales of My Delusional Self-Confidence which quickly became a national bestseller. BARNEY FRANK GUEST OF HONOR

First elected to Congress in 1980, Barney Frank is known as a superb legislator and a pragmatic politician whose sharp intellect and sense of humor have made him one of the most influential and colorful figures in Washington.

While in Congress, Frank worked to adjust America’s spending priorities to reduce the deficit, provide less funding for the military and more for important quality of life needs at home. In particular, he focused on providing aid to local communities, and to building and preserving affordable rental housing for low income people. He has also been a leader in the fight against discrimination of various sorts. He championed the interests of the poor, the underprivileged and the vulnerable, winning re-election 12 times by wide margins. As chair of the House Financial Services Committee from 2007 to 2011, Frank was instrumental in crafting a compromise bill to stem the tide of home mortgage foreclosures, as well as the subsequent $550 billion rescue plan. He worked to adopt a sweeping set of financial regulations aimed at preventing a recurrence of this crisis, and was a key author of the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the regulatory overhaul signed into law in July 2010. He also led the passage of the Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights Act, a measure that drew praise from editorial boards and consumer advocates. In 1987, Frank became the first member of Congress to voluntarily come out as openly gay, and in 2012 he married his longtime partner, becoming the nation’s first congressman in a same-sex marriage while in office. After sixteen terms in Congress, Frank’s legacy as a champion of civil rights and financial reform, as well as his ability to simplify any issue at hand in a clever and witty way, will be sorely missed. According to The Wall Street Journal: “Mr. Frank’s combative liberalism and quick wit make him a standout in a Capitol filled with politicians dependent on talking points and polls, a trait alluded to by Mr. Obama who said in a written statement that, “The House of Representatives will not be the same without him.”

Director of Counseling Programs for the Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco, Avicolli Mecca’s life work has been set firmly in the rebellious and creative spirit that has made the City’s culture iconic in the American imagination. An activist, writer, singer, and performance artist, he has been an organizer of countless demonstrations and rallies as an advocate for housing rights, justice, and community compassion for the least fortunate in society. In the 1990s Avicolli Mecca played key a role in the development of three temporary shelters for homeless LGBT Youth in the Castro district, the Simply Supper food program at Metropolitan Community Church, and a shower program for LGBT and homeless day laborers at Mission High School. Still involved in LGBT homeless and affordable housing issues, Avicolli Mecca is currently working on a new LGBT shelter run by Dolores Street Community Services. During the dot-com boom of the late 1990s, Avicolli Mecca co-founded the Castro Tenants Union, advocating against the evictions of gay men with AIDS in the Castro, and played a key role in launching the Tom Ammiano write-in campaign for mayor. While ultimately unsuccessful, the campaign’s effectiveness stunned the political establishment and brought national attention to the growing economic divide in San Francisco, ultimately enabling a majority of progressives to win seats on the SF Board of Supervisors and returning the city to district elections. Avicolli Mecca is editor of Smash the Church, Smash the State: the Early Years of Gay Liberation, co-editor of Avanti: Popolo: Italian American Writers Sail Beyond Columbus, and Hey Paesan: Writings by Italian American Lesbians and Gay Men. He is also a performance artist whose latest work includes this boy is just so strange, a musical that recently debuted at the Eric Quezada Center in the Mission. One November day last autumn, she realized she had enough, and fought back. In spite of video evidence showing her being punched and kicked while trying to run away, she found herself charged with battery, while the three students who harassed her received no charges. An online petition in support of dropping the charges gathered over 200,000 signatures in just a few weeks. In February, after weeks of public scrutiny, the case was referred to a conflict resolution program, which will allow the charges to be dropped. While the legal case may soon be over, the local community continues to confront the issue of bullying and how LGBTQ youth are treated in the public school system. Gutierrez earned 54 percent of the public vote among ten finalists for Community Grand Marshal in a year that saw double the votes cast in 2013. Selected by Community Vote

Nathan has been involved in numerous struggles affecting LGBTI people in the USA and abroad. From testifying at Senate hearings on the Uniting American Families Act, to advocating for the release of an undocumented lesbian partner from detention, Nathan has touched both individual lives and influenced policy affecting thousands. Nathan is a prolific blogger and journalist who uses her writing as a platform for her advocacy work. In addition to reporting on issues impacting LGBTI communities around the world, she writes with a focus on the USA and Africa. Her blog, O-Blog-DeeO-Blog-Da, serves as a platform for Nathan and her guests to highlight their work in a world where gay, lesbian, transgender, queer, intersex, and gender-free people are the subjects of persecution and discrimination. A participant in the Stonewall Riots, and later incarcerated at Attica State Prison, Miss Major was a participant in the 1971 uprising there. Politicized by the prison riot and the influence of Frank “Big Black” Smith, she dedicated her life to community building and providing direct care and services to other trans women, including years of activism and advocacy on behalf of prisoner’s rights. While many LGBT heroes are honored for their work in affecting policy, a consistent theme in Miss Major’s personal history has been that interpersonal caring and connection in itself is a revolutionary act.

Activist poet, writer and cultural theorist Judy Grahn is a professor in the Women’s Spirituality Master’s Program at Sofia University. She has published three poetry collections, eight chapbooks, a novel, four nonfiction books and numerous short LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT GRAND MARSHAL stories and articles. Her work has won her an NEA grant, an American Book Review award, an American Library Award and a Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement. Since 1965, Grahn’s writings have inspired and fueled second wave feminism, women’s spirituality movements and lesbian activism. Grahn was a member of the first lesbian feminist collective on the West Coast, the Gay Women’s Liberation Group, which established A Woman’s Place, the first women’s bookstore, and The Woman’s Press Collective, the first all-woman press.

Chelsea Elizabeth Manning (born Bradley Edward Manning in 1987) is a U.S. Army soldier who was convicted in July 2013 of violations of the Espionage Act of 1917 and other offenses, after releasing classified documents to the public. These included records of civilian casualties and other significant incidents during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as State Department Cables. Manning stated that she hoped the release of this material would promote, “debates, discussions and reforms” of U.S. foreign policy. PVT Manning came out publicly as transgender on August 22, 2013, when her trial attorney David Coombs read a statement on NBC News announcing her desire to live as a woman named “Chelsea.” This announcement represented the result of a long process of personal introspection and discovery, which started before her arrest in May of 2010. She wishes to receive hormone replacement therapy, which is recommended by doctors as appropriate treatment for her diagnosed gender dysphoria. Chelsea’s coming out as transgender and her fight to receive proper medical treatment while in a military prison display similar courage that led her to release the secret files and documents exposing U.S. war crimes. SF Pride’s membership and BOD felt it was important to remember Private Manning and, though she will not be able to attend due to her ongoing incarceration, unanimously voted to name PVT Chelsea Manning a 2014 Honorary Grand Marshal. Connie Champagne began her eclectic career with roles at San Francisco’s Magic Theatre and Theatre on the Square, and holds an MFA from the American Conservatory Theatre. She was recruited by Vegas In Space director Phillip R. Ford to portray the cult heroine Neely O’Hara in his long-running stage adaptation of Valley of the Dolls, which inspired her interest in drag as a theatrical form. An “unwitting pioneer of the Cocktail Nation,” Champagne was the winner of the SF Weekly Wammie Award for Outstanding Cabaret Performer for her work with Scrumbly Koldewyn in Connie Champagne and her Tiny Bubbles.

Well-known for her roles portraying Judy Garland, Champagne first appeared as the legendary star in the Off-Broadway production of Christmas With The Crawfords. New York Times critic Neil Genzlinger described Champagne’s performance as “a subtle masterpiece of parody and homage.” Inspired by Harry Lit of Castrobear Presents, Champagne, along with director F. Ralph Woodson’s Purple Haze is not your typical tribute band. He has studied his idol to the point of being able to play the guitar behind his back, and with his teeth. Ralph’s a Hendrix authority, and it’s obvious when you see him perform. The youngest of nine, he grew up in Richmond, CA, and was initially struck by the sound of the Band of Gypsys record. Ralph has toured with Hedzoli Sounds (of which Hugh Masekela was a member), as well as The Mighty Diamonds, Lady Bianca, Faye Carol, and a Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead)/ Sy Klopps (Herbie Herbert) collaboration called The Trichromes. Ralph played on big stages, opening for Tower of Power, James Brown, ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, among others. He’s appeared at the College of Marin and on KFOG-FM with author/Hendrix expert Steve Roby, demonstrating the sound and techniques of Jimi Hendrix. Ralph formed the Ralph Woodson Experience in 2001 (which became Purple Haze in 2010), focusing on the Hendrix material that he grew up with and always loved. Purple Haze has gained a steady following in the Bay Area and knock people out wherever they go. Ralph’s showmanship and command of the Hendrix material is second to none. See it for yourself!

FROM PRIDE TO PRIDE: THE GLOBAL BACKLASH

Ugandan Gay Pride 2012 resulted in arrests. Last year’s San Francisco Pride parade saw marriage equality helming our joy, with much focus on our victories in the United Sates. Since then, we have watched the incredible domino effect, as the states, one by one, bow to the constitutional correctness of claiming the right to marriage equality for same-sex couples. Though we have yet to set a unified benchmark in our quest for full equality, with an unfortunate flawed and floundering ENDA taking center stage, it is imperative that we view ourselves beyond the relative comfort of our own borders, and recognize the dire consequences for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) family abroad and the part we have played in it. We are a catalyst for the backlash, as law and milieu in many parts of the globe have become increasingly harsh and unbearable. San Francisco Pride 2014 has provided us, most appropriately, with this opportunity to “Color Our World With Pride,” and we would be remiss if we did not participate with a full understanding of the stakes for our LGBTI family, who suffer insidious persecution abroad, at the hands of governments and populace alike.

AROUND THE GLOBE WE ARE CRIMINALS: Seventy-seven countries criminalize homosexuality, mostly through draconian penal codes, remnants of the old Colonial era. Some countries have sought to make these laws more onerous, while others have started to enforce the once sleepy laws with terrifying vigor. To make matters worse, clergy, politicians and presidents have made homophobic comments that have served to fuel these fires. Much of the recent fervor to harshen these laws has been a direct response to what is perceived as the encroaching western ideals of LGBTI equality.

Out of 54 countries in Africa, 38 ban same-sex acts, with severe criminal penalties. Notwithstanding existing criminalization, Nigeria and Uganda took advantage of the newly heightened anti-gay sentiment, and their Presidents played gays as political pawns and scapegoats for the numerous social and economic problems when signing new anti-homosexuality legislation. Cameroon enforced penal codes with arrests and torture to force confessions, while Gambia, Namibia and other countries conducted frequent arrests.

SOME OF THE NEW LAWS:

Nigeria: The new Nigerian anti-homosexuality legislation, signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan, mandates a 14-year prison sentence for anyone entering a same-sex union and a 10-year term for “a person or group of persons who supports the registration, operation and sustenance of gay clubs, societies, organizations, processions or meetings.” In addition, public displays of affection by gay men and lesbians are also criminalized. Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni, in preparation for a vote that would deliver him his 30th year as Uganda’s President, patronized his NRM party with his assent to the astoundingly popular AntiHomosexuality Act, once dubbed the “Kill The Gays Law,” which stipulates 14 years to life in prison for same-sex acts, as well as prison terms for so called “promotion” of homosexuality. In both these countries the new legislation triggered a wave of persecution against LGBTI citizens, like never before. In Nigeria we saw a spate of arrests, public whippings and the stoning of gays. In Uganda, the most widely read East African newspaper celebrated the new law with a series of articles outing Uganda’s “Top 200 Homos.” Police arrested and paraded suspected gays in front of press and

television cameras. Many LGBT people have had to flee from homes, schools and jobs, for fear of assault and death threats. And many have reported being blackmailed by police and even friends. India: In 2009 after the Delhi High Court brought an end to Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code dating back to British rule, the LGBTI community rejoiced. However the celebration soon turned to disappointment when in December, the country’s highest court overturned the lower court’s ruling, once again making same-sex acts a crime punishable by up to ten years in jail, putting millions of Indians at risk of prosecution and persecution. Russia: During the immediate post-Soviet period, Russia reflected a trend toward liberating its LGBTI community, with same-sex relationships decriminalized in 1993. However in recent years, and with some encouragement from the same U.S. anti-gay religious extremists who plagued Africa with their gay-hating rhetoric and active call for anti-gay legislation, Russian authorities have reversed the trend. Pride parade permits were routinely denied and LGBTI people were intimidated, assaulted and arrested by police, with government officials making extreme anti-LGBTI statements. In June 2013, Vladimir Putin signed a new law passed by the Russian Duma, banning the “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relationships” to minors. This law has been seen to give license to extremist vigilante groups who have targeted mostly gay men and transgender people with assaults, kidnappings, torture and outings

that have resulted in severe injuries and many suicides. Brunei: The billionaire Sultan of Brunei, who owns the Dorchester Collection of Hotels, including the renowned Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel Air is implementing a Sharia-based penal code, which imposes death by stoning as a punishment for a series of crimes including same-sex activity.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY: These new laws, underpinned by false notions and horrendous myths of what it is to be LGBTI, were exported to countries by radical right wing Christian Evangelicals, such as Scott Lively and Lou Engle, who see their losses in the United States as a call to invigorate the globe with homophobia. The American LGBTI community must take serious responsibility to participate in decrying these laws and help LGBT people who have become victims of this horrendous persecution. With some guidance by the human rights defenders in these regions, we have a duty to provide as much help as we can, including financial support and participation in educational programs. We must also advocate to change our own laws here in the United States, to create a means for LBGTI people who are living under threat of persecution, to reach our shores, so they can live their lives with absolute freedom to express one of the most basic of human rights- the right to one’s sexuality.

PINK BRICK AWARD

The Pink Brick is a symbol of the first brick hurled at the Stonewall Riots in 1969. This faux award is an opportunity to highlight an individual or organization that has done significant harm to the LGBT community. It is also an opportunity to educate the community and the Pink Brick recipient about relevant issues. SF Pride’s 2014 public voting tallied 6,898 registered votes, with Scott Lively receiving almost 36%, edging out Russian President Vladimir Putin (24%) and Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan (11%) for this year’s Pink Brick Award. (2,027 people did not select any of the above.) According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Lively launched the virulently anti-LGBT group Watchmen on the Walls with Sacramentobased Russian radio host Vlad-Kusakin, Seattle megachurch pastor Ken Hutcherson, and Latvian megachurch pastor Alexey Ledyaev. Categorized as an international network of Christian activists dedicated to fighting the “homosexual agenda,” Lively traveled to Riga, the capital of Latvia, in 2007 and spoke at Ledyaev’s church, where he railed against the gay rights movement, calling it “the most dangerous political movement in the world.” Lively often refers to LGBTs utilizing terms such as “predators” and “disordered.” He expressed pleasure and support for a bill that outlaws “homosexual propaganda” in Russia, signed by President Vladimir Putin in 2013, and claimed in an interview with NBC that he influenced the Russian lawmakers who implemented it. Clearly his reach extends beyond our borders. Lively’s call for the criminalization of “the public advocacy of homosexuality” has included his influence on the engineering of the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Act. Often referred to as the ‘Kill The Gays’ bill, originally calling for the death penalty for those who engage in same-sex relationships, it was subsequently changed to propose life imprisonment as punishment. Lively’s talking points from a Ugandan conference he attended in 2009, in a presentation titled “Exposing the Truth Behind Homosexuality and the Homosexual Agenda,” were included in the bill’s preamble. This legislation is considered to have influenced similar legislation in other African states, such as Nigeria and Kenya. Scott Lively is the president of the Abiding Truth Ministries, a conservative Christian organization originally founded and located in Temecula, California. It relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts in 2008. defendthefamily.com

Established by resolution of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the Rainbow Honor Walk is about to become a reality in bronze. This June, the sidewalk tribute to those who have “walked the walk” for LGBT equality will become part of the pavement in the Castro, sporting 3-foot by 3-foot portrait plaques emblazoned with the likeness of LGBT heroes, heroines and icons. The first one unveiled at a presentation ceremony held on December 20, 2013, was dedicated to late local singer Sylvester (James), known widely for his disco hit (You Make Me Feel) Mighty Real.

The luminaries to flank Castro Street with their starkly contrasted panels will include Jane Addams, James Baldwin, George Choy, Federico Garcia Lorca, Allen Ginsberg, Keith Haring, Harry Hay, Christine Jorgensen, Frida Kahlo, Del Martin, Yukio Mishima, Bayard Rustin, Randy Shilts, Gertrude Stein, Alan Turing, Tom Waddell, Oscar Wilde, Tennessee Williams, and Virginia Woolf. The project is also collaborating with the City of San Francisco, the Castro Merchants, and the Castro Community Benefit District to celebrate the legacy of Harvey Milk and to acknowledge the Castro district as the first gay neighborhood in America.

SMOKE-FREE EVENT The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration and Parade is a smoke free event per San Francisco Health Code, Article 19L. SAFETY & WELLNESS SF Pride cares deeply about the safety, security, and health of all visitors to the annual Celebration and Parade. That’s why our volunteer Safety monitors work hard to provide a safe Pride Event. We recommend that you bring a friend with you when traveling to new and unfamiliar places. Report suspicious activity or unattended packages to the nearest member of the Safety Team or at the nearest Information booth. June can be hot so please stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. Please make sure that your valuables and effects are secure by not leaving bags or personal items unattended. We also encourage that you protect yourself and your sexual partners by using safe sex practices. INFORMATION BOOTHS At the information booths you will find the most up-to-date information on the Celebration. Each booth is staffed by volunteers dedicated to helping you get the most out of SF Pride. You can pick up a copy of PocketPride. It contains an event map and information about the Parade and talent performing on the Main Stage as well

EXHIBITORS & FOOD With close to 350 exhibitors, San Francisco Pride offers a wide variety of artists, local and national businesses, nonprofits, artisans, food and beverages. SF Pride makes a special effort to make booths affordable to local nonprofits that often use their spaces to educate, raise much-needed funds, and connect with the community. There’s something for almost everyone at Pride. BEVERAGES You can enjoy beverages discounts all day at Pride by making a minimum donation of $5 at the event entrance gates. In return for your generous support, you will get a donation sticker that earns you discounts on beverages at SF Pride designated beverage booths all day long! Throughout the site you’ll find a variety of Official Beverage Booths featuring beer and mixed drinks, as well as water and other nonalcoholic beverages. If you choose to enjoy alcohol at the event, please drink responsibly. Alcohol not purchased from one of our Official Beverage Booths is not permitted. Please remember to stay hydrated. Clean and sober visitors can enjoy an alcohol-free environment at the separate soda and water booths and at the Clean and Sober Space located on UN Plaza. CHILDCARE & ACCESSIBILITY Free childcare and accessibility services are available. Accessibility seating and ASL interpretation are provided at the Parade Grandstands. ASL interpreters are also

provided at the Pride Main Stage and other stages throughout the event. For more information about accessibility, visit sfpride. org/access. RECYCLING & COMPOSTING In an effort to be environmentally responsible as we continue to pioneer green event practices, SF Pride provides disposal areas for garbage, recycling and compost. Signs will be posted at these areas. All cups, plates and utensils used at our event are 100% compostable and made from natural derivatives. GRANDSTAND TICKETS & ACCESSIBILITY SEATING The grandstands, located on the north side of Market Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets at UN Plaza, are the perfect place to enjoy the San Francisco Pride Parade. The Civic Center Muni/ BART station is right next to the entrance to the grandstands. Grandstand tickets are $35 in advance at sfpride.org or $40 at the entrance the morning of the parade. Tickets are provided on a sliding scale to those with accessibility needs and their partners. Accessibility seating is also provided for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. GETTING TO PRIDE SF Pride is one of the largest outdoor events in the nation in the heart of a major metropolitan area. You can avoid traffic and scarce parking by taking public transportation. Both BART and Muni transit systems serve the Civic Center station near both the Celebration and Parade, making access to Pride easy. The Embarcadero, Montgomery Street, and Powell Street stations also serve the Parade route.
